St Paul quoted the Gospel of Luke! (And he wrote the Pastoral Epistles, too.)

I had never seen or read of that connection (Paul quoting Luke 10:7), and apparently many scholars haven’t as well. That’s getting some scratch attention in my Bible margins as we speak. Important stuff. Thanks Glenn!

Sorry, I hadnt watched this before my comment on facebook. I dont think that a lot of people are aware of all this stuff that goes on in the background, and they just blindly read their translation of choice, then freak out when someone like Alex O'Conner comes along and "debunks" the bible (scare quotes, because while he challenges it, he does not debunk it, even if he does give it a jolly good try). Biblical scholars tend, for the most part, to have a pretty good idea about what the issues are and why, and tend to hold each other to high standards. Keep up with the accountability :)

The funnier thing about Luke is all the whack shit he adds. Makes the whole thing to pander to romans. Cuts out passages of romans abusing jesus, makes pilate on jesus' side (which he wasnt at all in the earlier gospels), moves the story to rome and away from isreal, shifts the blame to the jews... Also makes jesus look cooler. In the earlier ones, he doesnt really say much during his walk and crucifixion. Silent, as others mock him. And then in Luke, he's suddenly throwing out comebacks and dramatic lines. And then, in the early gospels he says "Lord, why have you forsaken me?" And dies shortly afterwards. Those are his last word. But luke cuts that out completely. Cuz that looks too... human and doubting. Instead he says some cool line like "I offer myself into your arms". Certain, chad. You can argue "perspective", but luke is a third person account that systematically cuts, adds and changes parts in a way that changes the way the story is portrayed to a significant amount.

No doubt there are things you believe about Luke's Gospel that are more interesting to you than the observations made in this video. But what about the things in this video? Any thoughts?
