Chenue. I am extremely happy for you. I grew up in China, Hmong people live in Guizhou Provence. They were in such a poverty 20 years ago, they don't speak Mandarin don't even recognize the money note as well as very shy. They wait until the market day of the month leave the fruit or food wrapped with leaf left them on the side of the road and hide on the tree to watch it. Chinese saw the food will leave them the salt cube for exchange. When the Chinese left, the Hmong people will get down from the tree to get the salt cubes. Now Hmong people have much better life now, they plant a lot of cold hardy palm tree tear up the fiber to make expensive mattress.

I am proud and happy for you and your family young brother. Kwvtij zoo siab rau koj thiab koj tsev neeg. I am sure you will serve the whole community well not just the Hmong. Thiab zoo siab rau qhov koj tsis kam pauv koj lub npe kom nws sis raws li lwm haiv neeg xav kom koj pauv. Vim koj yog tus uas yuav muaj lub suab es hais nrov thiab dav tshaj kom tib neeg paub hais npe Hmoob kom yog. For example, peb tsis yog Moob peb yog Hmoob, peb tsis yog veej(vang), peb yog Vaj. I used to teach at Folwell middle school in Mpls. and somehow the attendance lady and I were talking joking around and she said she could speak Hmong, she started to say all the Hmong last names to me and I told her that she got one pronunciation right, Lee. The rest were wrong. She said to me, " so for the last 20 plus years I have been saying all these names and last names wrong even yours Mr. Thao." I told her, yeah, but we are very forgiving people and if it is close enough we will just leave it. She told me we shouldn't do that because if we allow that then we will lose it. If pronounce Johnson as ntsasxeem they would correct us. And I think she was right. I am glad that you as the younger generation realizes the importance of keeping our identity the way it is supposed to be, nco ntsoov Hmoob yog Hmoob. Hmoob tsis yog moob. Hawj yog Hawj so nej cov younger generation yeej meem rov qab tig los kho rau peb Hmoob. Koj yog thawj tug Hmoob uas kuv hnov nws stand up on national TV hais txog tuav yus lub npe Hmoob.

Khe. You're totally wrong. We are Mong not H-mong. Hmong is Han mong or Chinese Mong. You need to learn more Mong history. Hmong just started to use since 1974. We have no time to correct or debate about our name. Mong is the original. Vang is pronounce Vaaj not vaj. Vaj is a joke. Vang not va

4:10 - '... we're Mong ... ' seriously? Understandably non-native speakers will mispronounce Hmong words like the elders mispronouncing English words but to continually hear a supposedly Hmong person, native speaker, mispronounce 'Hmoob' or 'Moob' is just deplorable and inexcusable especially for someone whose sole profession is rooted in communication -- that is speech. Tsi tas kom nej paub txhua txhua lo lus Hmoob cuag li nej paub lus Mab Sua tiam sis yog nej twb hais lo lus Hmoob tsi meej pem lawm es xyov nej txoj kev kawm ntawv kawm ntawv yog dab tsi lawm os nawb.
