Chenue. I am extremely happy for you. I grew up in China, Hmong people live in Guizhou Provence. They were in such a poverty 20 years ago, they don't speak Mandarin don't even recognize the money note as well as very shy. They wait until the market day of the month leave the fruit or food wrapped with leaf left them on the side of the road and hide on the tree to watch it. Chinese saw the food will leave them the salt cube for exchange. When the Chinese left, the Hmong people will get down from the tree to get the salt cubes. Now Hmong people have much better life now, they plant a lot of cold hardy palm tree tear up the fiber to make expensive mattress.

I told her, yeah, but we are very forgiving people and if it is close enough we will just leave it. She told me we shouldn't do that because if we allow that then we will lose it. If pronounce Johnson as ntsasxeem they would correct us. And I think she was right. Understandably non-native speakers will mispronounce Hmong words like the elders mispronouncing English words but to continually hear a supposedly Hmong person, native speaker, mispronounce 'Hmoob' or 'Moob' is just deplorable and inexcusable especially for someone whose sole profession is rooted in communication -- that is speech.
