In this short video Manx organist Gareth Moore demonstrates the one-manual Hewitt organ in St Paul’s church in Foxdale on the Isle of Man.
The church is currently closed and a new home is being sought for the organ.
In 1979, the organ was thoroughly overhauled by resident organ-builder Peter Jones who has looked after it ever since.
Mechanically, it is remarkably reliable, having given no problems of any kind. It is also remarkably stable in tuning. When this recording was made the organ, which is free-standing, had stood, unplayed in an unheated building for some years. It was last tuned in December 2021.
