At last - the story of Grappelli! What a musician, what a life, and what a valuable contribution to the Hot Club history. Thanks Tim.

Thanks Tim! I wonder if you could work with Nigel Kennedy to get the arrangements of the Grappelli/Menuhin sessions published? I understand that Nigel was bequeathed the arrangements, and if transcriptions of the entire score, Bass, Piano, Guitar and both Violins could be published it would be a Godsend to aspiring Jazz Violinist everywhere! But especially the High School Students who are left out when it comes to Big Band Arrangements and don't really get to participate in "Jazz Ensemble" playing like Sax and Horn players do in High School, when & where they most need it. I think these albums are totally underrated. Especially the Obligato parts of the Head Arrangement. I read that Nigel considered them "Laughable" and Mark O'Connor "Not very Interesting", but from an educational point of view they are very Important. I see way too many violinists standing on stage holding their violins to their chests while the guitars go at it and it's simply because they have not learned how to play an Obligato or Count Basie style back-up riff behind a vocalist or other lead instrument. I'd appreciate you giving this some consideration, and please don't leave out the Incomparable Piano Accompaniment of Alan Clare. Many High School pianists are also left to their own devices when it comes to playing in a Jazz Ensemble. Either too many chords to read, or pages of slash marks with chord symbols they don't know how to voice or interpret. Cheers, Jack
