Just like the story of St. Rose and the witch is this story which occurred 100 yrs ago in the Western Indian state of Gujarat: A satanic witch doctor kept the tribals under his control by walking on water, fire and nails on a full moon night. A Priest told him to stop exploiting the tribals. He told the priest to stop him if he could. On the next full moon night, the priest prayed to Christ and the tantrik prayed to Satan and then tried to walk on fire. He got burned and rushed out. He tried to walk on water but sank and gave up. Whatever Frederick's flaws, and this priest makes it sound like learning Arabic is a mortal sin, he did return Jerusalem to Latin rule again for a brief time after Salahadin died. This homily was given apparently while Barack Obama was President (I am writing in 2020) and this priest was trying to play on the fears of his audience during that time and is an excellent example why people and especially priests should not mix theology and prophecy with their own private political opinions based on the news of the day.

God knows what is inside our hearts. If He sees Catholic praying in front of an image, being God and an all knowing God, He knows how sincere a Catholic prayers would be. Was it really necessary to have a bash at liberals? That completely took me by surprise! A liberal is defined as someone open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values. Those who followed Jesus were liberal people, the Pharisees were conservatives and traditionalists.
