Thank you Father Carpenter. This was a blessed teaching for me. St Catherine has been guiding me to learn more about her and this was where she guided me to next. I love our dear Saints. Mother Mary and Lord Jesus are always with me. I will be ever grateful to you and the time you spent teaching. There is no time, only now. This was divine timing. May you continued to be blessed in your humble service.

I'm a Secular Carmelite of the Discalced Order, under the spirituality of St. Teresa and St. John of the Cross, and this priest, Fr. Carpenter, gives a wonderfully easy to understand break down of The Interior Castle.

Well, you write and express yourself very well, but just to show you what really matters to God , look in the internet for the film ( the old black and white Italian movie ) “ San José de Cupertino “. The life of this Saint is just great . He is one of my favourites . The film is fun and if you have children , watch the film with them . They’ll love it .

A heavy heart can be lightened through prayers. Pray the rosary daily, its inly a maximum of 15 minutes and is Satan's biggest fear. Pray for the holy souls in Purgatory for them to be released and ask them to pray for any troubles you may have.

Thank you Father Carpenter for this instructive and enlightening presentation. I was born and raised Catholic in Puerto Rico and after retired, now live in North Carolina, USA. I read “En el Castillo Interior” de Santa Teresa de Ávila in 2006. It took me about 3 months to read it, because I found it difficult to “get into it”. I spent a lot of time reading maybe 5-6 pages. I loved the book and in fact, I preferred to read it Spanish because it is my first language and it was written in Spanish. I prefer to read books in the language it was written, among my only 2 alternatives: English or Spanish. But after listening to your presentation, I just find my book in Kindle (I have it in paperback too), and will start reading it again. I am sure I will get a wider learning experience. I have followed the prayers guidelines, but not as disciplined as it should be. I am 70+ years old living with my husband (Will celebrate our 55th Anniversary this year). Although I pray every day and constantly, I am in walking baby steps, I think. I will save your video to see it again and will look for the one of the San Juan de la Cruz and the books you mentioned. I also read years ago the Way of Perfection, in Spanish. I know I’ll find it. I have not yet read her Biography. Thanks again Father. May the Holy Spirit continue giving you all his Gifts you need to continue living with Grace and Strength your Vocation. Many blessings! Amen! 🙏🏻

Dear Carmen, I'm completely confused regarding the dark night of the soul idea. ☹️ I have a large busy family and life so I don't know when I'll be able to study the concept on my own. Would it be possible for you to shed any light on it at all for me, please?

Dear brother. It is very difficult for me to help you by this means without asking you some questions, knowing you better or even to acknowledge that if I could be the best person to help you or anyone. I can tell you that some times we believe our soul is left all of a sudden empty of all the Graces, like if they are not there, although they are, and we can’t see how we are going to get to the place we were spiritually again. Maybe because we are so involved in the world and routine lives, that when we want to go back to our interior self, we don’t find enough time, space or silence needed to get there where our souls were. Those are moments of dark nights of the soul, (as I understand, I could be wrong and there is more to it). The devil also took his time to help you to be confused, not necessarily with sin at that point yet, but it started with interruptions to get there, when you wanted to get into your soul. That place may be one you already know, because you reached into it once or more. But at this time, you can’t reach at any point of closeness or deep spirituality with God. Sometimes, the best thing is to go back to basics. What was the best first step at the beginning that took you there? A deep meditation of the Our Father prayer? Start there! First, this will certainly scare evil away, and it will put you back in track. Continue your process of prayers and meditation regardless of your emptiness and keep believing. The Lord is listening and He always answers. Be relentless. Keep your hopes up and do not relinquish your faith and love. Most of all, I recommend you to seek a Spiritual counselor. This will help you a lot and may answer your questions, I am sure better than me. I know you were not saying that you were feeling like this, but I have remembered this from what I have read without checking. Also, I remembered Saint Teresa of Calcuta. God Bless you!

Dear Father C. I'm not Catholic or even Christian but found this talk to be full of wisdom, guided by patient study, and exercised with humility. You are a worthy practitioner of your faith and one can tell this because all true practitioners of faith resonate with others beyond their particular tradition, calling and inviting others to something richer and more beautiful of which our nature may be capable. The one who peaked my interest in this topic was a pamphlet recieved accidentally in an airport on the Blessed Jeanne Jugan. The story of her life touched me. This ended up leading to some talk about St. Teresa of A. The evidence of religion is goodness and kindness - charity - amid, despite, and without deterrence by inustice...such a very tall order and yet people with your wisdom and focus keep that goal and wish alive. Alas I'm so so far from loving my enemies but am inspired by those who attempt this. The 7 mansions are lofty. Maybe some so foolish as me might only start with the right mix of bereavement and age. I pray I'm not tested to seek such virtue, blessed as those who do may be.

As a Catholic of Jewish descent.. some of my ancestors were Crypto Jews who somehow escaped europe, made it to the south pacific. One of those Islands where they arrived was the Kingdom of Tonga where a massive volcano eruption occured recently in Jan 15, 2022- (the largest ever recorded, on the feast of the Holy Infant of Prague btw). The island group where the volcano eruption occured is called Ha'apai. There is a place there called Israel and there is only 1 Catholic Church there called St Theresa of Avila which miraculously was never affected by the volcano eruption/tsunami! I never knew St Theresa of Avila was a descendant of Conversos (Jews who converted to Catholicism in Spain), until recently, so I lately, I met these Jews who hate the Catholic Church due to the Spanish Inquisiion, I introduced them to St Theresa of Avila....and they were all quiet. (It's weird but I now ask St Theresa of Avila, St Edith Stein and of course Our Lady's intercession for the Jews to recognise Jesus as their Messiah). I must admit, I've never really dived deep into St Theresa of Avila's 'Interior Castle', this video was actually sent to me today by a dear friend from Church after Mass which I'm so grateful for Thank you very much Fr Carpenter for this very informative video, I had to pause when you brought up 'Activism', that hit me like a ton of bricks! I'm inspired. God bless you Fr Carpenter, Rosaries and Support from Sydney

I am familiar With "The Interior Castle, and have read it. Love your analysis , explaining the different stages and how to identify them and experience them. You bring so very much Light and internalization of Light to All of the stages, and final Spiritual Maturity. You cleared up ambiguities into uplifting transformation and unity of Faith, Hope and Love into total Trust and communion with Christ. His Spirit is talking through you, spontaneously, and you identify it, know it, feel it and love and dwell in it ... Result; You clearly see the line in the sand. His Will is, now, my Will and He automatically takes the wheel. It is total delight to live in The Spiritual World. You are Joyful in giving the attachments to God, for you are, now, free, with Gid in the Spiritual World. God id God. We are Not God, therefore, we Trust totally in God, for He is the only one that can turn evil to good. Thank you so much Father, I just got onto my phone, and this is what I have been seeking...the structure, perspective and love of it all to make it to Spiritual Maturity and feel joyful, all the time. Thank you and know that you are a Blessing from God 🙏🙏❣️

I entered her name and place into the iPad and up came St Teresa of Avila.. I was shocked. This lovely soul had asked me too find her, ….why… I did ask her would she kindly visit me again, she said yes. This was before I knew about her. Thank you Father .🙏🙏🙏🙏🌹❤️

I've loved the Audiobook, although this is a fantastic presentation that's helped a contemplative soul move forward. Thank you Father ✝️

So glad this has found me; I haven’t read the book, but have tried to listen to other talks about the seven mansions, but nothing seemed to resonate to me. This is so clear and helpful. Thank you father for such a detailed yet understandable talk!

I shy away from St. Teresa of Avila and St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Ignatius of Loyola because their writings intimidate me. Thank you Father for explaining The Interior Castle simply and understandably!

I have always been interested in knowing details of this teaching of St Therese of Avila. This is explained so simply and this is exactly what I need at this point of my life. Father is truly anointed and gifted to impart knowledge so beautifully. For me, this is the perfect path ( through the right prayer life ) to sainthood. God bless you father

God bless you Father Carpenter, we were blessed to be able to ride our bikes to Saint Catherine’s when we lived in Torrance. I still remember a homily you gave about recreation and kick myself for not taking note of the book you quoted. The South Bay is blessed to have you.
