The little blond boy who bows is so darling. I lived in NY for many years and was fully aware of the choir school and the church, but never experienced it. This gives me a chance to hear what they have accomplished. I wonder where the boys go on to high school.

Beautiful video. The music here is nothing short of transcendent. Being Episcopalian and living in NYC, St Thomas Church is very much a spiritual resort for me. How blessed we are to have such a great institution in our midst. RIP John Scott

Astounded, how the boys are taught daily in choral music and in small class academic groups, Throughout, the emphasis is without question thoughtful as to their own individual interest and inspiration wish to achieve in learning to read music, play an instrument. Whilst such personal attention as this, in reality would normally be difficult with such an intense programme, it likely can only achieved in an atmosphere of being a border, but it goes on further by allowing boys to have their own collective room as their home, they can look forward as a if a friendly family so to speak, relaxing; but in a inspirational way before close of day at 10.30pm

What an interesting video about a phenomenal choir school - and a real joy to see and hear the much lamented John Scott. RIP

Thank you for this excellent video docu. St. Thomas is an exceptionally high caliber choir. I have always believed that American children could achieve excellence in choral music equally as the boys choirs in Europe. The great disparaging difference is the American culture does not embrace, encourage, nor promote boys choirs in general. Choir in the primary/middle grades here in the US are mediocre, usually “taught” as second classes in the minors of educational staff. Few churches maintain a chikdren’s choir due to lack of interest. No doubt, there are numerous fine choirs in the high school and college institutions. Choir in general is not a very high priority or vision for US culture. Kids are not encouraged and gender stereotype holds off many would-be choral gifted children from even trying out. Europe celebrates their girls and boys treble choir members.

Was wondering whether this is exclusively a private school, or whether there are scholarships available for boys who have great ability. There must be so many children who are gifted but never get this wonderful opportunity because of social limitations.
Phenomenal life experience for these boys. The musical traditions of the Anglican/Episcopal are recognized as the epitome of church music. Nice to see Fr Meade on this video. We remember him from his days at The Church of the Advent in Boston.
