Exodus I am glad that I am not the only one. I suffer from anxiety and ptsd. Some of her music is anxiety inducing for me. Here's the kicker..... Her music may trigger some anxiety but in a good way giving it a safe place to manifest and play out. If I listen to her music before going places that trigger anxiety then I am less likely to have a panic attack while I am out.

Why they (4AD) didn't add Cheerleader to the tracklist?
@Padenjs11 жыл бұрын
the fact that she almost totally excludes traditonal pop structures but still writes the catchiest tunes around is part of what makes her music special and interesting. her first record was a little more traditional, and it was okay. but her last two records are masterpieces of art pop; simultaneously pretty, classy, distorted and austere.

This performance is the best I've seen in years.- absolutely great direction and camera work as well and what an amazing fat recording. Flat-out inspiring, songs with actual spirit and so many subtle yet powerful and fresh moves in the arrangements. Brilliance from all in the band. Shares a dreamlike creative playing field with Joni, Kate or Prince, but kicks it somewhere else. Moving. A real treasure.

she's got the craziest set up for her guitar effects. that pedal board in front of her is completely run through a MIDI controller which is plugged into the laptop that her keyboard player is sitting behind. he controls when the guitar tones change. most of these songs she has 3 or 4 changes from verse to chorus to solo.

My friend tried to get me into her years ago I just couldn't do it. I'm a guitar player.myself and her style rubbed me in so many wrong ways and Ive always loved obscure stuff. But I saw a video a month ago. And it bothered me still. I knew she was talented and had a style of her own but It triggers my critique and soul. So this last month I've been forcing myself to keep listening. The fact that it made me emotionally bothered intrigued my curiosity As a guitar player and musician. I'm finally getting it... Her studio albums are amazing. It's rare when I fall down a new rabbit hole like this.... She is amazing. I needed this

With some of her songs, I need a few listens to wrap my head around the styles she uses before I truly start enjoying them. That being said, I didn't have that experience with any of the songs in this set; I loved them off the bat, although admittedly, further listening made me enjoy them even more. I can understand why some people wouldn't like them and might find them too strange, but I'm not one of those people. This is delightfully different in my eyes, and catchy as hell. People that don't understand it. It's not easy to listen to this music, it's not poppy, neither "radio friendly", and most of people prefer something that's comfortable for their ears rather than something experimental and with sense. I'm not throwing shit, it's just what it is.
@itsDelfi8 жыл бұрын
***** You have a point, definetly, but from my personal perspective, I like to be challenged by these songs, in following the tempo with lots of twists, listen to those guitar sounds that are super original, etc. I don't agree with the "it's not catchy" statement because I don't think a song has to be catchy to be good, but I liked the "conceptual girl that was left alone" part, lol. Point being, it is NOT music for everyone, that's for sure, but I can respect your dislike because you actually know what your talking about, and it's just not your cup of tea, rather than people disliking it because it doesn't have a cute boy singing it.
