Bjork's "Army of Me" meets U2's "Numb" with a whole lot of Annie's awesomeness.

If someone told me that she performed all these visualizations in their entirety instead of using loops, I would believe them. That would be very on brand.

this new record is like her greatest hits or something. I remember seeing her with a brass section and she said she just wanted to play Prince covers all night. Everything I/ve ever heard seep into her music seems to be on display in one way or another on this record. Man, I love a good , well-produced record from start to finish. I so hope it's true she produced this herself because some of the studio "tricks" are really neat and reminiscent of what I'd do (I too make records)
@Lantertronics5 ай бұрын
@@jaysharpESQ It's by far her best album to date, and I think it's not a coincidence that she produced it herself (of course, having learned tricks from the producers she's worked with, but them reworking those tricks into something original),

Is this not a loop? It seems like it might be a performance art piece about how it feels to constantly present a fake version of yourself to others. Her facial expressions are only "allowed" the slightest variation from a beaming smile, while the hands need to remain an exact distance from the table. So the act of constantly presenting a fake version of yourself starts to feel like an interrogator's stress position. The fatigue is the point of the piece. It could be interpeted as "complaining about fame," but it could also be about the stress and anxiety of being a people-pleaser, or really anyone who feels compelled to present a fake, curated version of themselves for any reason. Or maybe I'm wrong and it's just a loop 😜

tue synth reminds me of Björk's "army of me" ........... but holy shit this album is sooooo good. For a long time I could not say that about an album and now this year for the 2nd time......... the new Pearl Jam is so surprisingly good and now St. Vincent .......... bham soooo good. And of course if you ask my kids , the Taylor Swift record is also top

The title echoes Bjork's "Big Time Sensuality" and the music echoes her "Army of Me." But of St. Vincent herself there is still no sign. I don't get why she's such a critic's darling. Getting Dave Grohl on the album does make it sound better, though.
