I'm 63, been listening to her for about 10 years and she still amazes me. I've always been a prog fan and she somehow bridges the gap between that and everything else. Love her work!
@brendanmcmahon99719 ай бұрын
Mentioning prog, she has admitted to liking Yes and when she made Daddy's Home one song that she drew on was Long Distance Runaround from their album "Fragile". I'm a big Yes fan as well and when you listen to Long Distance Runaround and then her stuff, it all make sense. She had also admitted to liking King Crimson.

Hard to overstate the level of great work she is doing. Singer, instrumentalist, composer, stylist, guitar designer… she is cut from the same cloth as Prince and David Bowie. Truly impressive human.
@antonharmacinski2763 жыл бұрын
I'm primarily a guitar guy, so typically more of a metal, punk, hard rock, classic rock, industrial kind of guy, but I'm also a Prince fan, and of course Bowie. When I hear people grouse that no one’s making good music these days (which probably every generation has said about the music of subsequent generations since the dawn of music), I immediately mention St. Vincent. There are plenty of other bands and musicians making great music too, and I list them as well, but Annie and her work are clear and convincing evidence that there is always great new music to make.

Thank you once again Annie for making the incredible effort to share your soul with the world. All the trolls and naysayers make me feel so bad for there quality of life. Like do you not get enough love from your family or lifes ambitions that you have to take the time to put a stranger down for expressing themselves? Next time you wanna put someone down for there music why dont you take a look at yourself and tell me what you've done to contribute anything special or unique to this world. True music makers and lovers would never have the power to say anything negative when it comes to letting the world hear whats inside your head. Musicians should only encourage and promote positive vibes when it comes to our art. I get not likeing something, but thats all you have to do. Dont like it, move on, find something you do. Music is magic and if you dont have the heart to feel it then dont. Nobody needs to piss on creator's for doing what you so clearly have no talent to do yourselves.

One thing hits me here: "The people who I was touring with, the musicians, in this Down & Out Town Band, are just unbelievable. " I have to say I feel really sorry for Daniel Mintseries, Matt Johnson and Toko, because it is a kind of insult to them - they were the band who made St Vincent happen publicly. Further: "8 people on stage, no tracks, no nothing, high stakes, anything could happen." This is of course Annie Clark bullshit, the show was choreographed like any show before. Unnessessary nonsense like the phone call, the "wrong" Annie at the beginning, the wig: it was a heavy dissapointment for me and way back from the powerfull "Strange Mercy" show or even the "Masseduction" show. Sad, that she doesn't reflect the past 10 years. Anyway: I blame it on the infuence of Jack A. --- my 2cents

When I was growing up and getting into guitar music, there were very few women really playing it. I always wished more women would play because I just felt they would bring a new dimension to it and open out the emotional range of the instrument. St Vincent really embodies that for me.
