I had the botanical tour, and I must say the tour guide did not seem to give a lot of details about the plants. I was hoping he would tell you about the "ladies of the night" plant and what so special about it. Also, which perfume has it as an ingredient.

I'm a Vincentian living in the US for over 30 years, and I remember visiting Montreal Gardens when I was living at home. Very beautiful place. At that time it was owned by the Brisbanes...I wonder if they still own it?

The gentleman we spoke with, said that he purchased the land along time ago, and it was just brush back then. He cut it all back and did all of the planting himself.

@@ThereToHereTravels Unless the man you spoke to is one of Brisbane's relatives, he's not being honest. He may have bought more lands and expanded it, but Montreal Gardens was always a beautiful place. I had a friend who owned a restaurant in Kingstown, and most Saturdays we would drive out to Montreal to buy flowers for her restaurant...they used to grow the most beautiful Anthurian (sp)Lilies. My Brisbane also supplied the banks and other businesses with weekly flowers.

I can’t watch footage right now because we’re on a cruise, but I believe he said he made it in the 70s. Maybe it was earlier. Does that sound right? I can double check and get back to you after we return next week. He might even mention it when he’s speaking around the 12:30 minute mark of the video. It won’t play because our internet isn’t that good here.

@@ThereToHereTravels No, I left SVG in the 80's and that Garden was already a destination for beauty and tranquility for a lot of people, and it was well maintained. IIRC, there was even a small river running through it. So unless the man you spoke to is Mr. Brisbane...and I can't imagine he is still alive...then he's not telling the truth. I will ask one of my friends in SVG if he is still alive, and if he is, God Bless him because he would be in his 90's now and still getting around. That would be the only thing that makes sense, or one of his children or family member is running it. If you could find out the gentleman's name that would be awesome. Enjoy your cruise...I'm sure the weather is beautiful as usual...and HOT, lol.
