I've not heard her albums yet fully, just songs from each, but I hope somewhen in her body of work she goes all out and does a jam album. Something really wild, not restricted or confined to track times, just pushing the boat out. The St. Vincent ship, hhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrrn. That's a boat horn (without the o).

I am over 60 so I am not suppose to like St. Vincent, but I do, ya! I got hooked on her when I saw her perform on Saturday Night Live. I always had a taste for music that differed from a lot of my friends. It started with the Mothers of Invention and Captain Beefheart. I later got into techno such as Kraftwerk and then went to groups such as Sparks and Talking Heads. Oh well, I'm happy.

This is her best performance she's ever done - on ANY stage! I'm glad I found it again on KZbin. During Digital Witness, her hand choreography is unique and mesmerizing. Catch the last song, Birth In Reverse. It is the only performance of that song where they had a decent cameraman and video director. They get all the synchronized dual guitar moves in frame. And they show the magical tiny step dance, usually without the feet in full view. It looks like a magic trick of guitar playing moves. This was a great night for the band and the enthusiastic fans who just look like they are surprised and blown away!

larry scheller everything you say is so laughable. you are a true elitist asshat. no one cares if you know anything about music. if grading music is based on technicality of course youre not going to find it here as much as you would on say, a technical death metal bands music. if its extreme technicality youre looking for youre in the wrong place. for chill indie music, she goddamn shreds. theres no arguing that. pretty sure youve lost sight of what listening to music is all about. i lurked your profile so i could laugh at you even more and its confirmed that you have actually really shitty music taste. stop tooting your own horn, youre really embarrassing yourself. if youre trolling, great job/good one. if your replies are serious i hope you get struck by lightning right on your baby dick.

She sang my favorite Nirvana song during the Music Hall of Fame (that's what I call it) induction and I was totally hooked. Digital Witness is an incredible song, and she has so much style and determination. Now I am listening to St. Vincent with David Byrne, and Love this Giant is great stuff!! The two of them are like kindred spirits. Plus she has that cool high-heeled shuffle. The total package with Annie and St. Vincent!

She's a lot more interesting and captivating a presence on stage in this performance than in some of the individual performances I've seen on TV, such as on Jools Holland, when she went for a very stoic, more subdued stage presence. Her idiosyncratic movement, performance art sort of vibe, all her own, plus her unique guitar playing style, very cool . . .

To: The people who think she can't play guitar. She's this century's David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix all rolled neatly into a new age catalyst that will launch a million new artists into their own. Please have some respect, the sound might be too new for you yet, give it some time, you'll come to enjoy it. Promise. Remember what people said about the Rolling Stones when they first got started. John Doe Everyone that understands music didn't have a formal education . Hendrix understood it to a degree and most of the great jazz players understood or understand it very well . You can't improvise over NON diatonlc chord progressions without understanding the logic of the progression ! Tobin and Annie don't know what they're talking about !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I listen to Annie play or try and talk theory it's hard to believe she even got into Berklee !

larry scheller Yeah but his self-training wasn't anything like Annie's. If anything she plays her guitar like a synthesizer, everything seems pretty neat and meticulous. Jimi's music was always allot more organic. I'm not trying to argue the level of music intellect either one has, it was dumb of me to bring it up. Rather I meant to point out the habits they fell into.

That must have been a ball. I've not seen anyone live on acid, but I did take acid recently and listen to what I had planned to listen to which was Silverchair's Diorama album. It was nice, intense, but it took me into some hairy moments, sketchy, I just braced myself and rode through it. I got stoned a couple of weeks ago and discovered and listened to St. Vincent for the first time though. I was puzzled by her, I didn't know what she was doing, I just knew that I quite enjoyed it, that I enjoyed watching her enjoy whatever it was she was doing (these were the two videos of her playing with Andrew Bird). Then I got stoned a night or two later or whenever it was, might have been a week later or almost, and I went through practically all of her music videos in a very drawn out blissful state. I was blown away by her versatility and eclectic styles. She's incredible, really. First I've bought her collaborative album with David Byrne and I love it. I look forward to getting her other albums soon - I find her voice comforting and I could do with being comforted in the next few months because of some upheaval in my life and choices I have to make, but also I like how her music appeals to the imagination. One can lose oneself to most music but it's quite rare for music to really tap into the imagination - I know what I mean by this, anyway. Her evocative lyrics, creative music videos and overall originality is a real buzz, terribly pleasing. I'm just besotted, kinda. Can ya tell? And one last thing, just 'cause. I understand that she's gender fluid, she'll dig someone no matter of their gender, if she has feelings for someone then she has feelings for someone. I think that's great, although I sort of have a greater respect for her to hear she's with a woman currently. It shows she's got the brains to not bother with most men (ha), more power to her (and women altogether). Yee-harrrrr!

The commercial interrupting the songs are annoying. Especially since I doubt any of the money is going to the musicians.

Found my way here after reading about her signature guitar and wanted to see what it was all about. Not my thing but we know soul when we see it especially since there's barely anything not neatly packaged for the little kids and teenagers who will support the biebers and swifts of the world with money they most likely didnt earn themselves. Parents please stop validating the corporate sham that's beamed at your kids you're teaching them that below average is the ceiling they should be reaching for. But not to get into that, like I said not for me the choreography and all that not my thing- not bashing her either its easy to fall into the trap of I dont like it so it must suck- but please relax with the Hendrix comparisons. People our age (anybody not around before and during the time that he broke out which very much includes myself) cannot truly understand what he did to music and specifically music made on the guitar. It simply didn't exist that way before he showed the world that it was possible. She's a great player in her own right but she lives in a world of great players who can all trace it back to Hendrix. The world revolution gets thrown around way too much but that's what Hendrix was. He's not even my favorite but he was the revolution. I'm just a dude on the internet my opinion matters not but to compare her (or basically anyone else really) to him misses the point of why he is who he is.

Larry Scheller: I have no idea who you are and guess what, no one else in the whole world knows who you are or cares- however I do know something about you: you are a deeply negative and bored person who has nothing better to do with your life that spend 8 months of your life continuously defending your sad you tube persona. My heart goes out to you. I hope you find whatever healing you need to attain in order to enjoy the diversity of talent this world has to offer without viewing it in a hierarchal fashion. Music is not a competition. Art is not a competition. If someones work doesn't speak to you, or is not technically proficient enough to satisfy you, then just be content within your own abilities. Everyone has different standards by which they judge artistic output. Thank god having a berkley degree isn't the defining characteristic of most excellent songwriters, performance artists and musicians. Throughout musical history there have been a plethora of art school drop outs. Getting a degree doesn't make your work interesting which is the sad reality for many musicians who have wasted time and money on an education that will not provide the career they long for. Larry, just let it go for your own sanity and personal evolution. You aren't going to win this argument because there is no right answer. It seems like you are an embittered negative soul who has way too much time on his hands.

Nathalia Polischuk ya I mean good for him for being good at music and there’s definitely a place for it and is probably needed a bit more in mainstream but what use is there commenting and spewing venom on st Vincent’s vids that she will never see or care about. Personally I love this music
