All i gotta say, is try to sing that melody and play the line she plays at the same time. That's fucking talent. And she is one of todays better indie guitar players. And another note, play that fucking solo, it's hot. You groove to it.

thats called creativity, true musician has to add something different to the table.. you can't dwell in Jimi Hendrix era forever.. He is great, but this is 2011.. Otherwise you'll be a guitar nerd on your bedroom forever, who can play other people's flawlessly, but no one buys your records..

she said in an interview that she leaves it up to interpretation. She also said it's straightforward in regard to what she sings about. The lyrics I would say are very light but clever.

"Newer artist"? Just so you know, this talented artist has been around for quite sometime now..Witnessing her songwriting skills blossoming the way they've had through out all these years, it has been a rewarding musical journey and an experience by itself If you can't see the genius and freshness of her musical arrangements or the poetic beauty in her lyrics, I guess, well,... you are not the annoying music connoisseour you so hard trying to come across with your comments.

@Anticsize Oh, I'd really like to know who is her husband (I'm a straight woman so no jelousy though, I'm just curious 'cause Annie is one of my idols). And I think this is the drummer who recorded and played with Jeff Buckley-Matt Johnson. As an artist, she is often compared to Jeff (in a good way) so it's great that she can play with one of his musicians, but I wonder why she changed all of her band members recently. The seemed like such a close friends in her tour videos.

i feel you distort(or misunderstand)what i express-as if i wanted "literal" or "traditional" things.Take Joanna Newsom, she writes very abstract, far from "litaral" but you are MOVED by the lyrics, the feeling is sharp as razorblade, not "vague".i talk about not content but feeling-when u open yourself you put youself on the line and your feeling is genuine & touches others, whoever Susanne was or her tea was actually not from China.StV. to me does have "concept" behind but it is just "smart" stich.

I can think of a million, less talented, men (and pretty women) getting more attention than her. Hardly think her being attractive has anything to do with it. Plus, simple doesen´t mean bad. Complicated, fast million note solos often suck. So what if she feels like twitching? Try to be more open to different perspectives and to women who are actual mucisians.

Wow, I think this is the first negative comment I've seen on a St. Vincent video...you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but in the future don't confuse your distaste for something with a lack of talent, please. There's certainly a subjective aspect to determining a songwriter's talent for composition, but she is objectively a talented guitarist, arranger, and vocalist.
