You should be sponsored by tohatsu! 😁 Spend hours searching for a outboard engine for my holiday 23, unshure if an 6hp engine would do, but now I'm pretty convinced!

how fast would you go with half throttle?

Just to let you know that your excellent video has convinced me to buy the 6hp tohatsu for my much smaller boat. I think tohatsu are doing well on the strength your video.

I just want to let you know that based on your video and all comments here, I went and bought the same model motor 4 hours ago. Thank you.

30 liters for 200km is very economical and it also sounds like it's not that noisy. What's the size of your boat? Is it an Albin Vega? How fast can you go with the 6HP outboard?
@meinkleinerobstgarten4 жыл бұрын
@Bjørn Bjørnson Læst ñåmë Are you sure? The stern is obviously customized for the outboard motor and Vega windows have often been replaced due to leaks.

Well is not as quite as a 2 cylinder. I had that before but this one is better to handle (26kg). I had 10 HP yamaha but that was unreliable and too heavy. This trip was a 1 time only, normally I just use it to get out of the Harbour. Max speed is 5,6 knots. Normal throttle is 5 knots.

@@meinkleinerobstgarten it is Bandholm 24.

@@Mark-ue6pm Thanks for your reply! I think that's a very smart solution for a small sailboat, much better than an expensive and unreliable (old) inboard motor.

@@meinkleinerobstgarten yes indeed. That was my main goal: reliable! This engine is due to the weight easy enough to carry from an on board and service at home yourself. And yes it is more noisy than a 2 cylinder, but I have a sailing boat, so I sail as much as possible.

My Bandholm hangs out with the SUZUKI DF20A, same fuel economy, less noise.
@Mark-ue6pm4 жыл бұрын
For sure less noise, but 20 hp too heavy for me. Fuel consumption of 1liter/hour for a 20 HP?

@@Mark-ue6pm A liter and a half an hour, at a speed of 5 miles. Yes, Suzuki is heavy but does not create a problem. I use it on another craft as well.

Question about Tohatsu 6hp and Tach/Hour. How you installed Tech/Hour wire: where wire go from under plastic cap to outside (drilled hole? , or simply ware compressed between plastic cap and metal basis, etc) ??? Thanks.
@Mark-ue6pm3 жыл бұрын
there was just a kind of drain hole available. See also the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYTWhod3i8SbpLc

@@Mark-ue6pm Thank you for your answer! But I also found it after my second careful inspection . I did 10 hours non-stop break in on Saturday. Tach very help stay on correct RPM, but my tach/hour probably not high end for sure: after 10 non-stop hours it was indicated as 9.3 hours.
