Its weird watching this now. I grew up on the Goldy moving there from NZ when I was seven in 1977. In 2018 it was a surprise to know they could kick me out of Aussie and back to NZ with nothing and without ever doing a jail sentence. 12 months suspended sentence combined over your life is all they need to send you back if you never became an Aussie citizen. I always thought permanent meant exactly that. Who doesnt get done for weed on the Goldy at some point. Been back here now for 4 and a half years and it now feels like it was just a dream....did I really live in a place with weather and waves this good. I miss it...and my family. Get one for me. Seeing Occy reminded me of one night in Melbas at about 3am and him talking his face off about Green Iguana that was about to be released....fucking funny......thanks Occy for the shout. (Not a 501...I'm a 116...the ones they dont want you to know about. Deported on "bad character" which someone behind a desk decided I was).

@klachopis6 жыл бұрын
Bwa ha ha!! I've been surfing since the mid 80's in crowed and uncrowned surf throughout the Americas and Hawaiian islands. Any break that you can buy a smoothie near has been guaranteed crowded since before I started. Want to avoid crowds? Be ready to travel a little or at least look over the next headland. My last session had one other guy out. How about yours? Oh, and also remember it's just surfing. It's just a way to have some fun. So relax about who's a gaper and who's a heavy dude. Surfing is a luxury, and we should all be so lucky that we have the money, free time and proximity to the ocean to pursue the activity, rather than being say, some poor bastard in South Sudan who has to walk miles a day just for the privilege of drinking water.
@klachopis6 жыл бұрын
Whee! Homophobia, age-ism, and body shaming ALL ROLLED INTO ONE, in a pathetic attempt to feel superior to me, since your plan A of calling me a gaper didn't pan out. Go Have a good cry because you don't know how to surf in a crowd, but aren't intrepid enough to score uncrowded waves. Meanwhile, I'll be reviewing the list of class A spots I've scored solo or with a handful of mates, ranging from Canada to Mexico, and Hawaii to Puerto Rico. And remember, if there is a smoothie joint a short walk from any given surf break, it will be crowded.

Seriously looking to spend some time on the gold coast, possibly even move one day. What are the best long board spots that are not overly jammed with people? I don't fancy surfing with 300 guys in the water and it seems all the long spots tend to be jammed with shortboarders. I also don't like dropping in via longboard and stealing waves early. I am mid 30's never have always long boarded.
