this is fantastic. i do not get a lot of free time between family and work; so your group makes its way to my lunch break more often than not. for 8 minutes i am on vacation in copenhagen in the audience here. thank you for this time of peace

What a lovely performance. This piece is often done by choirs amateur and professional, but is not straightforward - there are some tricky twists and turns which often sound ragged. Ars Nova get it just right, the voices strong and clear without jostling for precedence - a real ensemble. Lovely intonation too. First rate.

I love music. So many different instruments has the mind and craftsmanship of man created! And yet none is as beautiful as the instrument created by our God: the human voice.

I kinda disagree. I Love the voice but the voice cant be whole Orchestra by themself Like a Piano can. You have many more Options and can Play many voices at once :)

"It is not known at what period of his career Palestrina came under the influence of St. Philip Neri, but there is every reason to believe it was in early youth. As the saint's penitent and spiritual disciple, he gained that insight into the spirit of the liturgy, which enabled him to set it forth in polyphonic music as it had never before been done. It was his spiritual formation even more than his artistic maturity, which fitted him for the providential part he played in the reform of church music."_New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia

There has been some speculation that Palestrina "saved" polyphony. A world without polyphony sounds desolate and empty in some way or another. No JS Bach, no Vivaldi, no Handel or Zelenka. What followed them, changed or stunted. It's not a pretty picture.

I think this is an idle and futile game to engage in superlatives regarding who is The best and The greatest. Let’s not do that. We are not debating soccer teams here. There are many geniuses in musical history, and each one is great in his own way. Can we please agree on that?
