Whenever I revert to stack and tilt I always hit the ball much better, but I always seem to drift back to trying to conventional shift golf swing, which I struggle with, but feel pressured by conventional instructors that this the best way. But I think it boils down to what suits you and your physical make up. I’m going to persevere with stack and tilt now, as the strike is so much better. I’m struggling a little bit with direction and target alignment.
@JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton2 жыл бұрын
Hey Gary! Great to hear your success with ST! Alignment is based on club face angle and then setting your body in producing the certain ball flight. Remember the club face is responsible for 98% of the starting direction and the path controls the curve :)

Flamingo drill... brilliant! I’ve just started focussing on a spot 45 degrees and about 4” behind the ball to swing over. This is to counteract my usual coming over the top tendency. With the weight forward it’s helping get better contact and on a better path. Also trying to have my hands in front of the ball at impact is helping get my weight forward which I always struggled with. Thanks 🙏

Thanks for posting Jess. I definitely struggle with hitting it fat. I tried stack and tilt at the range recently and the results look promising. I know this is a setup video, so I'll restrict my questions (mostly) to that. It seems that, because you like to bend your lead knee forward a bit, your shoulders become slightly closed to the target line. Are your feet and hips square to the target line? Is your clubface square to the target line at address (I guess I'm asking if the grip is neutral)? Finally, how flexible should the lead wrist be when practicing, say with smaller swings?

Your conventional set up, that all of your students have as you showed, is not at all how the conventional set up is taught. I like stack and tilt, but you must describe the conventional set up properly, and not like all of your students seem to come to you with. The differences between the two swings then can be compared honestly. No taught swing would be a feet pointed in, hands behind the ball and weight behind the ball at set up!

@@JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton I thought it was obvious that you were addressing higher handicaps at the beginning, who absolutely struggle in the ways you described, so I went forward in the video to get to the part I wanted to see. I wonder if these types of videos tend to attract a wide spectrum of handicaps or lower handicap players, by and large? It would be curious to know who your general audience is, maybe you can run a poll? I was not put off by having to move the video forward, fyi. The address (P1) is half the battle. And everyone I've ever seen who struggle to advance their games, do not repeat good fundamentals in their P1. The set-up is the one thing we can absolutely control in the swing. Hey Luke! I would have to see the shot to make a call for you thanks! But hitting the ball then the turf is what all the best players do.

I noticed that if I were to attempt to lift my left heel even just a little that I would experience pain in the left ankle. Hogans’ swing was too difficult to follow when it came to the backswing. With his swing the weight shifts to the right then back to the left. To be successful with Hogans’ style I believe would take great strength with the inside muscles. The weight shift from left to right was too complicated to follow. I need to give stack and tilt a lot of time. I have to accept that my left heel doesn’t leave the ground. My confidence is higher with stack and tilt.

@@JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton Thanks a ton Jess. On the Stack and Tilt official site could only found instructors in West LA and Diego. Just getting back in to golf after 10 years, want to avoid the frustration that made me leave.

Left knee over left toes is new . The hips a little forward is also new. I can see how it keeps me over the ball. How it helps me take a divot just beyond the ball. Grounding the club just behind the ball makes it possible to hit a little fat. I’m trying to keep the club just a little off the ground behind the ball. I think if the club touches the ball it would be a stroke, a penalty.
