Only if the data is it erroneous and Management wants to use it to penalize people. Stack ranking can show you how top performers can do the job while identifying people who need more support and help to them improve.

Yes, they can be. You often have to prioritize one metric over another. As long as everyone is aware of which one has the priority, stack ranking can work. Layout all the KPI's and all of the calculations for everybody to see and you will have fewer problems.

That might be so. Large companies do tend to use different models over time. I do believe that stack ranking can help you identify top performers. Once those people are identified you can learn what they do to drive that performance and potentially train and upgrade the whole team.
