I am right where I need to be. I will no longer allow the enemy to lie to me and keep me depressed and unhappy because I do not have what I think I ought to have. I am lying down unable to move and this was on my youtube. God's timing is impeccable. A sermon from over 150 years ago is discussing contentment in the face of chronic debilitating pain. God is talking to us - we have to listen.

Contentment is the key to Christian living.. the children of Israel complained against God and were not thankful. Thankfulness is not an option. We must be thankful to God each day for what we have whether it be little or much. Contentment kills greed.

I love listening to this man when I lay down or working in yard. He teaches like the man I listen to who is also on utube, Jim Brown Truth and Grace Ministry, Jim is such a blessing, I try to stay in a study most every day. I've learned a plethora of information in God's Holy Word, I'm 68, and the Lord Jesus introduced himself into my heart,, I searched all my life, but God's timing was when I was 66 and a half years Old! I know that the Holy Spirit is with me, Praise God, and if you have a heart for God, but swim in sin and feel hopeless, when God is ready, he calls you and you know! And even if you doubt sometimes, God's grace brings us through, growing our faith and hope grace by grace, glory to glory, I'm learning, I'm so thankful 🙏💖

When I was a new believer, I used to listen to Christian radio all day. I thought every sermon was right, and every preacher knew more than I did about God's Word. Then, I matured. Through the Holy Spirit, I started to understand the scriptures. My eyes were opened, and I came to see that some preachers peddled the Word of God for gain, and some were even dangerous to listen to. This knowledge was painful for me, as I really liked these preachers and wanted to believe they had my spiritual growth in their best interest. Growing up was hard. I thought as a child, but had to put childish ways behind me. So, while I am grateful that Christ has called you to Himself! I pray you will grow in discernment. Just remember, it is the Holy Spirit who teaches us the truth. The Spirit was leading people to Christ, and speaking to them in the "inner voice", long before Bibles were printed. Trust the Holy Spirit. Preachers are flesh and blood mortals...just like us. Remember -- trust the Holy Spirit. He will never lead you astray.

I have never had anything. I have lived the last 30 years on the brink of poverty but God always has a plan. People have prayed for my finances, my health. job prospects, etc. and while I appreciate their concern I always want to ask them to stop telling God what to do. He knows exactly what I need and it is Him, not necessarily money or health or a job.

Said by such a man as this and in the way he typically would say it, is an amazingly hypocritical free message especially compared to today's pompous, arrogant preacher and fanboy. Spurgeon was an amazing vessel for God. he wasn't one that as well fed, pampered glutton would look down on the one down in spirit and circumstances who's home was burned and then impatiently rebuke them for not having his faith... rather, he got down in the pit and worked... his words were not self serving, but serving the one who washed the feet of even His betrayer. Spurgeon had real credibility, not through tickling ears and fanning emotion but humbly loving as he was loved. His rebukes stung more yet were more out of wisdom and godly counsel than self exaltation and building up a fanbase. I'm not sure who will win this round of culture wars, but we are all losing what really matters with the crowd of virtue signaling glory seekers out there now. I am glad we can get godly preaching through historical texts such as this.

There are two kinds of poor people in the world: THE LORD'S POOR, AND THE DEVIL'S POOR. THE DEVIL'S POOR ARE THOSE WHO ARE SO BY IDLENESS, BY VICES, AND BY EXTRAVAGANCE. THE LORD'S POOR ARE THOSE WHO, THOUGH THEY LABOUR DILIGENTLY, WHILE THEY DEAL HONESTLY IN THE SIGHT OF GOD AND MAN, REMAIN POOR AND HAVE NOT SUFFICIENT. THEY SHOULD LOOK FOR SUPERIOR SKILLS, STEADY PERSEVERANCE, AND A SINCERE PRUDENT BUT NOT FRUGAL/STINGY SPENDING, SEEK GREATER WEALTH. THEY MUST NOT RESTRAIN FROM THOSE THEY MUST GIVE HELP AND CARE TO, AS THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, AND ALL SUCH. THEY WOULD BE COMPROMISERS IF THEY DO SO. BE CONTENT. GOD COMFORTS AND CHEERS YOU. HE WILL HELP YOU.
