I always thought that making boxes and covering them is very complicated, but you made the whole process incredibly easy. I'm going to try to make some boxes but skivertex is not available in my country so what can I use instead of it to cover my boxes?

+Jane Weller You can use book cloth, paper or paper back some silk. You can use anything that is thin, flexible and won't fray or fall apart when you cut it. Good luck and have fun! Thanks for watching!

Hi there! I’ve been watching your videos and love how polished everything looks when you wrap and line the boxes. But I’m having a hard time following when you make the miter’s cuts on the corners. I think it’s because the cuts are so small it’s difficult to see the details of the cuts. Could you make a video of how to specifically make those cuts you make in the corners using a bigger corner and zoom in on those so we could see exactly what it looks like and how to cut it? That would be so helpful. Im trying to completely wrap my kitchen drawers like a box and I can’t seem to do the corners.

If you watch other box videos you will see the cut. You simply make a diagonal cut from the outside corner to the inside corner. I usually lay the knife on the diagonal, stand it up and give a small push to cut the cover material of the two sides and then trim the cuts; one to go along the corner and one to go around the inside corner. there are two more box videos coming in the next week or so but I treat all of the corners in all of the box videos like this. Thanks for watching.

Would you cover a box with leather just like this...or would it be a completely different process?
@Ceropegia
@Ceropegia 7 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the thickness of the leather and the leather type. There are very thin fashion leathers that might work like this but generally you need a different technique and a wooden box to with which to start. That's also, ir it was in the past, a different trade, much like a silversmith is different from and has a different set of skills than a blacksmith. Thanks for watching!
