Mexican Gold Pesos were traditionally minted from an alloy of 90% gold + 10% copper. The 50 pesos has a diameter of 37 mm, thickness of 2.69 mm, gross weight of 41.67 grams, net weight of 37.5 grams = 1.2057 troy oz. of pure gold. The 20 pesos has a diameter of 27.5 mm, thickness of 2.04 mm, gross weight of 16.67 grams, net weight of 15 grams = 0.4823 troy oz. of pure gold. The 10 pesos has a diameter of 22.5 mm, thickness of 1.4 mm, gross weight of 8.33 grams, net weight of 7.5 grams = 0.2411 troy oz. of pure gold. The 5 pesos has a diameter of 19 mm, thickness of 1.14 mm, gross weight of 4.167 grams, net weight of 3.75 grams = 0.125057 troy oz. of pure gold. The 2½ pesos has a diameter of 15.5 mm, thickness of 1.02 mm, gross weight of 2.0835 grams, net weight of 1.875 grams = 0.06285 troy oz. of pure gold. The 2 pesos has a diameter of 13 mm, thickness of 1 mm, gross weight of 1.667 grams, net weight of 1.5 grams = 0.04823 troy oz. of pure gold.

Regarding 4:36, the British Gold Quintuple Sovereign £5 Coin was almost as large as the Mexican Gold 50 Pesos Coin. The British Gold £5 Coin was made from an alloy of 91.67% gold + 8.33% copper, has a diameter of 36.02 mm, gross weight of 39.94 grams and a pure gold content of 36.61 grams = 1.1771 troy oz. The Mexican Gold 50 Pesos Coin was made from an alloy of 90% gold + 10% copper, has a diameter of 37 mm, gross weight of 41.67 grams and a pure gold content of 37.5 grams = 1.2057 troy oz.

So far my gold stack consists mostly of the gold pesos. You can get then cheaper than other gold bullion pieces. My favorite piece to stack out of all the pesos is the cinco denomination. Also F.YI., Hidalgo was not a president, he was a Roman catholic priest during the mexican revolution

After doing the math, I agree that the 50 Mexican peso is the best sovereign gold coin hands down. I don't think anyone really realizes the bang for your $USD that you're getting. If you convert the rate of exchange of the US dollar to a 50 Mexican peso it's approximately $2.45. (Deep breath) This means that you can acquire a whole 1.2oz of gold compared to the .1215oz. of gold content in an overpriced pre-33 US$2.50 gold coin. What I've learned throughout my stacking journey is that the Fed-backed US governMINT is no friend of mine ✌️👍💨

Question, I am a silver stacker but have some gold. I can afford mainly 1/10 and 1/4 oz gold coins. I have some sovereigns too. But I am curious which would be a better stackable coin (even if for a short time) the 5 peso or the 10 peso? I see there is only a slight difference in weight and purity. (one is .24 and .900 pure, one is .23 and .910 pure but some what of a large price difference (even from the same dealer) Thanks brother!

Hidalgo was never a president. He is considered the Father of Mexican Independence. He was a Catholic Priest who started the Mexican War of Independence but did not live to see the war finished. Libertad means liberty.
