After selling a couple homes in 2022, I'm anticipating a housing crisis in order to buy inexpensively. As a backup plan, I've been thinking about purchasing stocks. What recommendations do you have for the best time to buy? On the one hand, I keep reading and seeing trader earnings of over $500k each week. On the other side, I keep hearing that the market is out of control and experiencing a dead cat bounce. Why does this happen?...

Love the 250 gram EIC coin bars. Whats the big deal working in grams?
@SilverForeverX2 жыл бұрын
Working in grams just makes things more complicated in the States. I haven't tried it, but I'm guessing if you tried to sell this 250g coin bar at the LCS, most would just pay you as if it was 8 ozt (rather than 8.04). In reality, it's not a big deal if it ends up just being a $1 difference, but the point is it will typically require a conversion to troy ounces, which is just another layer of complexity that can lead to price confusion during a transaction. In the states, 10 oz bars are really the standard, so I don't see much advantage to the 250g size. Many shops will have a much easier time reselling the 10 oz bar because that's what people are familiar with, so they may be less likely to make a competitive offer on the oddball size. In this case, the same EIC coin bar is made in 10 oz form, so you have the option either way. Here's my video on the 250g coin bar: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6iWinRsZat0n6M That being said, I'm actually stacking Germania Mint kilogram silver bars (instead of 10 oz) right now because I think the difference is premium/spread justifies it!

you don't need to bust out a calculator for the 250gms bar, it's just a quarter of a kilo, and you should easily be able to find out what a kg of silver costs, not in terms of oz, say a kilo is $1000, therefore 1/4 = $250 extremly simple.

Newbie here. First off, I love the video and subbed. I definitely am not stacking for a collection (although I do have 2-3 rounds, I got for that purpose) I am stacking purely for investment/ pass on to kids. My stack is still very small, only 1 10oz bar and maybe 30 1oz and 4 grams of gold. One question I do have is do shops do swaps? Like if I bring in 10 1oz bars do they swap for a 10oz? Or any size really? It sounds dumb but with my nubbiness I have no idea and I'm sure it all depends on the local shops. Thanks, and keep up the awesome job. Can't wait to watch the rest of your videos.
@SilverForeverX2 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question at all, Alex! I think you stand a good shot of trading 10 x 1oz bars for a 10 oz bar, but it really depends on the shop. Lately, my local coin shop hasn't been discounting 10 oz bars, so you pay the same price per oz whether you buy 10 x 1 oz bars or just the one 10 oz. In that case, it doesn't really make sense for the LCS to do the trade because it just takes up time and they don't stand to profit from the transaction. Always think about what the other guy stands to gain from the trade/swap; unless your friends doing each other a favor, people don't make trades to benefit the other guy. Because smaller bars often have higher premiums than larger bars, many shops or private parties would probably be open to making the trade. BUT keep in mind that stacking is a long-term journey. Over time, you will be making new purchases and growing the stack anyway-- so maybe just continue buying 10 oz bars now and just keep those 30 x 1 oz bars stashed away. One advantage to the smaller bars is that you can sell them 1 oz at a time, whereas you don't have that option with the 10 oz bars. Just some things to think about-- I'm not a financial expert or adviser so you have to make your own decisions here. I'm really glad to have you on the channel. I'm still pretty new but I make high-quality videos, so I'm sure you'll find something you enjoy in the video catalog! Stacking is a fantastic pursuit, wishing you the best of luck!

One advantage I can foresee with the 5-oz size: Less of a financial commitment for a possible buyer. 10-oz bars are great, definitely, but I'd say those are where you start getting into real money. It might be no problem for _us_ to buy a 10-oz bar but unless you know you'll deal with well-to-do people exclusively, possible buyers may or may not balk at buying something at that size...especially if you're selling when the spot price is higher (which I assume would be the case). For the near future, I'll probably stick with 5-oz bars & 1-oz rounds whenever I find good deals.

I'm a newbie when it comes to stacking, but have been collecting silver coins for years. I want to start stacking because I'm concerned about U.S. currency and I want something else to rely on besides just the "dollar." I would buy whatever silver was the cheapest. I'm not concerned about how pretty it is and/or who makes it. I'm going to stack because of the economy. So what am I missing??? I'll wait for your reply and I thank you ahead of time.
@SilverForeverX2 жыл бұрын
If you believe that the price of silver will rise significantly, then stacking for weight (versus collectability/numismatics) makes sense; however, one advantage to stacking pieces with semi-numismatic value is that they are more likely to retain their value, even if the price of silver tanked. Although it might seem silly to focus on how 'pretty' something is or who makes it, these factors can (and often do) have a big impact on private resale value (e.g., Engelhard bars). However, if you sell back to a local coin shop, they will likely be paying you close to melt value regardless. As you may have noticed, silver has pretty high premiums right now. If you want to buy 'whatever silver is cheapest', the best thing you can do is to assess the spread, which is the difference between the price you pay and the price you could get for the item if you sold it. A 100 oz bar might be the lowest premium you can find and seem like the cheapest, until you have to sell it back. For many years, a local coin shop might pay you under spot/melt for large bars. And if you have 1 x 100 oz bar instead of 10 x 10 oz bars, you would have to sell the entire item at one time. Likewise, silver bullion coins can be highly variable in terms of their premiums and buyback prices. If all you care about is acquiring precious metals because of concerns for the economic future, you might also look into gold, which has even lower premiums than silver. There's a pretty big overlap in the precious metals community between "stacking for weight" and collecting. I am actually really curious about what silver coins you have been collecting, given that you called yourself a stacking newbie. There's no wrong way to do it-- it really depends on your personal goals. Glad to have you visit the channel and wishing you the best of luck on your stacking journey!
@scotts13562 жыл бұрын
@@SilverForeverX Thank you very much for the detailed and fast response. What you said makes sense. You said some things I never thought about. I said I was just starting to "stack," but I've also been buying silver coins from the mint for years now. So I guess I've been stacking! From the mint, I buy the silver eagle proofs and uncirculated, I used to buy the proof sets and I still buy some of the commemorative silver coins. I buy them because I like them and sometimes I do sell them. I bought the 2021 reverse eagle proof set and plan on holding onto it. I could use these coins for money down the road, but basically I buy the "nice" stuff, just to have it in my collection and to pass it on to my kids. I always thought of stacking as a hedge against economic issues and really didn't think buying silver from the mint was stacking. I guess I was wrong! Obviously you pay a premium for coins and hopefully they go up in value because of the silver price and also because the coins are in demand. I had this "mindset" that stacking was paying as close to spot as I can and using the silver bars and rounds for economic issues. So you helped me realize buying from the mint is also stacking. I should probably look into stacking gold. I stuck with silver because the price is so much lower but you're telling me gold has a lower premium on it. I never really looked into, but I will now. Thanks again.
@SilverForeverX2 жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting anyone should "stack" silver with mint products that can have very high premiums, just because it can be really hard to recoup those premiums when you sell! Unfortunately, at many coin shops the proof sets will be bought and treated the same as "junk silver"(pre-1964 US coinage). Coins from the Mint are definitely in the numismatic category, but at the end of the day you're still accumulating silver. I guess you're a stacking collector? Stack-collector? I bought a bunch of the 2021 Morgans from the Mint and still haven't decided what to do with them yet... It's important to become as informed as possible before you start buying for stacking purposes. It's easy to get burned if you don't have a great "lay of the land" for the price environment. I'm not affiliated with this site in any way, but www.findbullionprices.com has good price comparison tools for every major silver and gold product from the all the big online dealers. Also, you should definitely check your local coin shops (LCS) in the area. Ask them for prices and compare to online options. You'll find each LCS can vary WILDLY in price! You can even ask what price they pay to "buy back" the item.. The difference is the spread, and sometimes it can be very enlightening. One last piece of advice: Don't go "all in" at once. Many seasoned stackers advocate for "dollar cost averaging" -- or spreading out your purchases over time, to minimize the risk that you buy it all at 'the wrong price'. I'm not a finance expert or anything, so you should do your due diligence before making your own decisions on this one!

Yeah, with my bank roll right now I stay in the 5-10oz size, mainly in the generic brands. The sovereign bars just have too much of a premium on them for my tastes. That doesn't mean I do not own any, I just do not stack them in quantity. I keep some out to have my touchy touchy time with (0.o) .... and of course to show others. But mainly they stay in what they are shipped in. Like you I do not prefer the 1oz bars, but I did get a few tubes of them 5-6 years ago when buying the 1oz rounds and bars were near spot.

I might spend $5k for it, should i buy all at once or a few oz at a time ?what kind of silver should i buy-- coin,bar .. ?.how much to pay for an oz ? atm silver is 19.80/oz ?where's the trusted place to buy silver now ?thank you for reply.

I'd say 10oz and kilos are the bars to get. Anything in between can be supplemented with 1 oz coins
@DrSchor Жыл бұрын

Smaller sizes incur a higher price premium?
@ebayaccount6752 жыл бұрын
What do you think about the 100g combibar for silver? It's premiums 90%-100% over spot, however APMEX 1oz bars currently are about 30% over spot WITHOUT the bartering ability of the combibar. Also if you buy 50g-100g plus of the GOLD combibar the premiums are negligible at best, 3%-7-13% 13% for 20g. So my question is are these premiums justified, & are combiars in silver & gold worth the price for investment purposes?

How do you feel about Englehard 100 ounce bar?

Did someone say “bars”??? 🤩 I’m a devotee of the 1oz. (various in sets of five for uniformity-flag bar, Prospector, Samurai, etc.) the 2 oz. (as in the poured Monarch little chunk), & the 10 oz. (RCM 🇨🇦, Asahi 🇯🇵, and the stunningly handsome Highland Mint Buffalo 🦬 bar) I agree with you on defaulting to the sovereign bullion in 1 oz., but the bars satisfy one more of my ADD needs for variety. I like that they don’t milk🥛spot (at least, not yet!) and they fill my 25-count Guardhouse boxes nicely once I enshrine them in Air-Tites for posterity. I do have a separate Pelican micro case for a set of 10oz. Academy Stacker bars I’m collecting and I do confess to having torn off the plastic bullion cond%m they were trapped in. My stack is a plastic-free zone! 😎 (Capital Currency has a great video post from this week on the utility of the Guardhouse boxes if you haven’t checked it out.)

I'll have to check out that CC video! The 10 oz RCM is definitely next on my list...
@origamioutlaww50563 жыл бұрын
@@SilverForeverX ...it’s a beauty. And it fits perfectly in the 10 oz. Air-Tite cases, unlike the other 19 oz. bars that I have to shimmy in there a bit to snap ‘em shut.

@@origamioutlaww5056 If I can find decent deals, I think RCM 10 oz would be a good bar to stack heavy

@@SilverForeverX Agreed! Four 9s fine silver, government backed, and a serial number for security. I have one on the way from Hero Bullion that was $264 when I ordered it a few weeks ago, but I’ve paid as much as $300 for them. It’s the one bar for which I don’t mind paying a slightly higher premium.

Yes, true! But I always seem to find the best deals on the 250g coin bars.. I've added a few to the stack since this video. Maybe 10 oz is more of a "sure thing" though

You never mentioned the Scotia Bank Silver 5 Troy oz. coins?
@SilverForeverX2 жыл бұрын
I think those are technically rounds (not coins).. but I'll have to look into those!
@MrGWN72 жыл бұрын
@@SilverForeverX I dug a little deeper and found them referred to by all 3 names. They have the brilliance of a double struck uncirculated coin (very pretty to look at), are large enough to be considered a bar but are made for a very prestigious company (Scotia Bank) and can be considered a round. If the mint that made them for Scotia can produce such nice work it will be worth taking a look at their other stuff. :)

I usually just get junk silver, not sure if that's the best though. I did buy approximately 5 oz of silver quarters, and spent 92 dollars. Do the coins usually sell for less or did I just get a good deal?

@@SilverForeverX I sometimes wonder about the markt. World is getting more and more komplex and mental disorders seem to be on the rise. Maybe less music would attract more viewers. When I watch old documenterys like 30 years + they seemed to make less use of background music and have less shakey camera movment. Anyhow its up to you anyway. Feature of 2 seperate soundtracks for voice and music would be a nice you tube feature. Less videos would be flaged or they only block the music track.
