Please tune-in to see how the famed Morgan Silver Dollar came into circulation. Watch to see how the Fourth Coinage Act, the Bland-Allison Act, the hiring of George T. Morgan, and the unassuming model used for the image of Lady Liberty proved instrumental in the silver dollar's implementation. Whether as a coin collector or silver stacker, the Morgan Silver Dollar has stood the test time as one of the premier United States coins.

I learned a lot from your documentary. So much history. We must remember, a large majority (270 Million) of the older Morgan’s were melted under the Pittman act after 1918. They are rare. Morgan’s may be the best investment in Constitutional Silver currently. With Silver spot in the mid $20’s I have been buying extra fine and better quality common date Morgan’s for about $40 each. Graded and slabbed MS62 or 63 coins for about $65. I stick to common dates since my focus is stacking, not collecting for numanistic value. If I ever go to sell, the history, the beauty, the mint quality and the silver in these coins will bring me top top price. Yes, I enjoy my stacks of dimes, quarters and halves but these Morgan’s are special. America’s greatest silver coin, in your hand.

I enjoyed your brief Morgan silver dollar documentary, but even more interesting than the details behind the minting is the genesis of the design of Anna Williams, The Silver Dollar girl. After being seen and sought after by Mr. Morgan for the coin's face, Ms. Williams declined Mr. Morgan several times before being inspired by her friends to sit and be drawn for the face of the coin. Back in those days, it was scandalous for a woman to be alone with a man if they were not married. Still, Anna was also an art student and understood the need for privacy and time required for the artist to render an accurate replica of her face which was seen by Mr. Morgan as one of the most beautiful he had seen. When all was said and done, Ms. Williams became the face of the new American Silver Dollar, aka Morgan Silver Dollar, and Ms. Morgan quietly drifted back into relative obscurity. Many desired to know the woman's name, but being a very private person, Ms. Williams kept her secret. It wasn't until 1879 that a Philadelphia reporter revealed that Anna Williams was, in fact, the "Silver Dollar Girl," making her as famous as an actor, president, or a person of high monetary or social value. As you can imagine, Ms. Williams was besieged by people for not only her beauty but popularity for her role in American History. Instead of profiting off her fame and riding that fame to wealth, and high society, Anna found it distressful and desired a peaceful existence away from the public eye and settled back into her role as a teacher for $60.00 a month. After once again slipping back into relative obscurity, Ms. Williams found herself once again in the public eye four years later when it was revealed she was engaged to be married. Some claim the notoriety garnered from her past and story of being the Silver Dollar Girl may have been too much strain on her engagement and that marriage never happened. I believe she passed in 1926 from a stroke. It amazes me that the most beautiful coin and the most highly collectible coin to ever be minted never has Anna Williams in the storyline. *I think a mini-documentary on the story of Anna Williams would be greatly appreciated, especially by newbie collectors, and add to the understanding and personal value the coin holds in the story of American Coinage.*

I am happy to see your Morgans don't have Sulfuric Acid Damage. So many collectors like to Damage their coins by dipping them in Sulfuric. It hurts to see them Damage a coin then call it perfect.

Thanks for putting this video together! Great job! So it appears no Morgan’s were produced during WW1 and resumed in 1921 when the Peace dollar was ordered! 👍

I bought 6 Morgan Dollars from 1879, 1884, 1885, 1886, 1900 and 1921 and 17 Peace Dollars 1922-1926 here in Germany yesterday in a pawn shop for a total price of €460, which is €20 each, which is €2.45 more than the spot i think the price is ok for all 23 coins 460€ equals 507$ and 20€ a piece equals 22$ what do you think about the price was it a bargain? how much do the coins cost at your pawn shop in the usa?

Morgans are no longer backed up they can be melted down legally into ingot's bar's or rounds. But i should say thats what i was told anyways they dont mint them anymore so thats why there's no backing by the mint.

Right now, peace dollars are cheaper. I would rather get the peace dollar now because why pay $5 more for a worse condition “cull” for a Morgan? Peace dollars “culls” are often times a lot better looking than the Morgan dollar culls. So most of the time I get peace dollars.
