I don't cry when playing games much, but being able to listen to this after waiting 6 years to play this incredible game, and finally completing it, was so satisfying, I couldn't help but cry. Being able to be on the frontlines for such an incredible experience, was awe inspiring. I was late to the party with BOTW, about a year 1/2 late, and by that time I knew pretty much everything I would see, but with Tears of the Kingdom? A completely fresh experience. I was learning about the mechanics, the story, the world, at the same rate as everyone else, and it was magical. Having that unmarred experience of a game without any spoilers is a truly beautiful thing that I feel isn't respected enough these days. I love this game, and I love this song for it's ability to bring together every major musical leitmotif displayed within the game in one beautiful medley...The BOTW style of Zelda game can still grow, but if they released a DLC that was a final goodbye to the open world genre, they could easily utilize this song to do so. BOTW revolutionized not only the open world genre, but gaming in general, but TOTK? It is the game of the year. It is the epitome of open world genre. Developers will be looking at TOTK for years to come as not only a successor to BOTW, but as a masterclass in video game development, music, and concept. TLDR: I fucking love this game

Same man. The only other LOZ game I had was LTTP for the GBA. Back then I had zero clue what I was doing and just kept going around doing the intro part over and over cuz I was only like 4-5 years old at the time and mainly played Mario kart. Come 2014-16 when I started to learn about the LOZ series through smash 4 and got BOTW. Since BOTW came out I had loved the series ever since. Got scared to leave the plateau area (I am autistic and have issues “committing” to stuff) and didn’t play it until like 2018 (2017-2019 was a weird era for me because I tried fitting in at middle school and high school). Beat the main story in summer of 2019 before I got my switch. From like 2020 to about 2021 when my Wii U pro controller stopped working because the battery went to crap I played BOTW nonstop. It was definitely the most fun I’ve had in any game that I’ve actually played and not gone around multiple circles like an idiot for 20+ hours straight in game.

Greatest game of all time! I decided to finish it today and I was taken away. If Nintendo is planning on making a Zelda movie I would look forward to a movie version of this game. They might do botw as the first one but as long as they do this as well I’m all for it
@KnotPhound Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I would like a more original movie that takes the key things of the Zelda franchise and combines them to make something new enhanced by the vision of the people working on it. Also, a TV anime adaptation of the Twilight Princess manga would be great.
@corrinflakes9659 Жыл бұрын
@@KnotPhound I would love a Twilight Princess anime adaptation involving the manga’s additions as well. Also, I hope Akira Himekawa adapts Skyward Sword after Twilight Princess wraps up, so much of Skyward Sword’s cast is ripe for very substantial character development in a more deliberate narrative medium. Whereas Groose in-game is already well-developed, but what about others? Maybe if Fi learning to look at things non-analytically and more personally helps that ending payoff even more. Or Impa grows more trustful of Link as Link himself gains some humility for his shortcomings. The framework is very much there for a more traditionally narrative-driven medium to take advantage of it.
@corrinflakes9659 Жыл бұрын
Also just generally-speaking the Zelda manga is my immediate response when somebody brings up Link talking outside of video games. Because using a cartoon made in the 1980’s where many cartoons focused primarily on marketing over actual adaptation (and video game narratives were minimal).
@KnotPhound Жыл бұрын
@@corrinflakes9659 Yeah, I completely agree. The 1980s cartoon really messed up the perspective of most people on how Link would be if he spoke. Personally, I've never liked the justification of "the player being more inserted into the character" because I don't think you can relate thst easily to what is basically a frame of a character, which is what has happened in most of the games, like Twilight Princess. I really love how the manga manages to make Link an incredibly sharply written character.
@danko8983 Жыл бұрын
i love botw and totk, and they are my favorite zelda games and also my favorite versions of link and zelda, but honestly i dont think this would work for a movie, i'd rather to be a manga based on this story like the OoT and TP mangas, and then if there is a movie it should be an original story using the elements of the zelda franchise

@thelordstarfish Жыл бұрын
Okay, the use of the main theme at the end of this is honestly a bit awkward due to how said main theme ends on such a *sinister* note. Like, this is the end credits to a game about a noble hero courageously fighting to save his world from an ancient evil which, spoilers, ends with the noble hero successfully saving his world from an ancient evil. So why are the final notes of the end credits theme so ominous? ...I kinda wish both BotW and TotK had more unique credits themes rather than just literally being a "Greatest hits" replay of some of the game's main leitmotifs. I mean, a lot of Zeldas do that, but it's typically a bit more... rearranged to fit the feel of an ending? Thinking particularly of how Wind Waker's credits song basically combined every single heroic character's theme into a single continuous melody and it all fit together beautifully. Meanwhile this... feels very disjointed. I mean the tracks they play here *are* good, just... they barely connect.
@wifi961 Жыл бұрын
They should’ve played the one from trailer 3.
@leoschunn996 Жыл бұрын
It's segmented and disconnected so that it can play in the order of what regions you helped save, the player creates the order of the song. I think that's incredibly creative, and each regional section is a unique composition that doesn't appear anywhere else in the game, which is WAY better than what we got in BotW (which was just a best-hits compilation like you said). TLDR, TotK did it right, BotW didn't.

Im not going to deny the fact that the music for tears of the kingdom is absolutely incredible. The problem I have with it is how unmemorable it is. Some of the tunes from older games they use in almost every Zelda game due to how memorable they are. For example Zeldas Lullaby which has been around forever. And the main theme in general. The ones you find yourself singing randomly are not even from this game. I can sing every song from Ocarina of Time due to how catchy they are. That one song from the marching mask in Majoras mask anyone whos played the game and used the mask can remember forever. Thats part of what leaves the largest long term impact in the older zelda games is how catchy the tunes are. While theres no doubt TOTK is one of the most fun and complex games I have ever played, I doubt it will have a lasting impact on me like Ocarina of Time did. Heck I have 200 hours in BOTW and can hardly remember the story. But I only have 30 hours max in OOT yet I will never forget the story. So hopefully in the next game we will see the retyrn of memorable songs.

Originally I was quite disappointed at this sequel and how most things didn’t feel touched upon from BOTW and how samey the game felt… but the ending was just fantastic. Three incredibly hard Ganondorf fights, an exhilarating penultimate final boss… topped off with these credits. While I don’t think TOTK was a masterpiece and certainly not the greatest game ever made… this game deserves all the love and attention its getting. Outstanding job to everyone from Nintendo… ❤️

"samey the game felt"? Almost everything was changed, TWO, I repeat, TWO layers of map were added to the existing one. New story, new characters, and the list goes on. I'm quite disappointed that you're disappointed because you thought the game didn't make you feel the way you wanted it to be.
@cloudshines812 Жыл бұрын
@@jpsun14And is that a bad thing? The two new layers of the map were neat at first but rarely added anything new to the experience, most of the main story is done on mainland and areas you already saw in the original. And the main problem with this “sequel” is the overall structure and how it was just the original in almost the same regard. 90% of the cast are returning from BOTW, you visit the same locations again, you find memories to piece the story together again, and certain points are straight up the first title AGAIN. You can have new stuff in a game, but if that execution of said structure is poorly done, then your sequel either fails or isn’t well liked. There’s a reason why many people criticize Star Wars 7, or God of War Ragnarok, or anything that even is remotely similar to its predecessor. Tell me you did not play Tears of the Kingdom and think “this is just like the first game” without telling me you played Tears of the Kingdom

So like hot take (Just a valid opinion), the 1st song playing in the intro of the game, and the every last song playing in the credits are 2 of the only good songs that came from this game. Zelda always had amazing ambient music for the overworld and dungeons, and greaaat boss music. But this game just like botw does not hit the quality of music im looking for. Botw had its main theme, the castle was alright, and the only other song I actually really enjoyed was the dlc bosses theme which was pretty good. This game had its intro walk into the basement theme, sidons theme (a copy of botw's but slightly different), koghas was solid, gannon, and the cutscenes had decent music. BUT THATS IT. The ambient music almost didnt even exist, the dungeons more or less had nothing, and overworld music I dont even remember hearing I have over 60 hours in in totk already. I played wind waker and loved the music but totk has some of the best songs in the franchise, while not having the same quantity as the rest of the games. Calling the dungeon themes and boss themes bad is just disrespectful, shit bro Colgera literally uses Dragon Roost and Molgeras theme in it, just for a motif on the latter but still

@@JakeYolk Calling those dungeon themes and boss themes better than any other zelda game is disrespectful, you could somewhat defend that a singular boss theme is decent, but just like the rest of the game the dungeon music is ambient nothingness. Go listen to any song from twilight princess and tell me it isn't the most memorable stupid tune for an area. Also what better songs? I said the like 4 songs that were solid, 2 of which being the literal 1st song in the game and the credit song. And the other good music was in cutscenes. The rest is ambient forgettable music.

Hot take: the staff credits from both Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild... Kind of suck... Like... A LOT! Just let me explain. In previous games Nintendo created a whole new theme using rearrangements from the game's most iconic melodies, but using them as a foundation to create something new. BotW and TotK don't do that. They just take themes from the game and stitch them together as they are, with no further arrangements, or even recordings. They feel as if they were made by the intern in an afternoon on Audicity. They feel beyond lazy. Yes, the themes they use are magnificent (which makes the themes feel even more out of place. How come such excellent soundtracks have such lazy staff credits?), but when you compare them to what Nintendo use to make for Zelda staff credits themes, it's indescribably underwhelming.

Beginner Zelda player here. I've only really played BOTW and TOTK. Which would you say is a good example of a Staff Credits theme in any of the previous games? Genuine question, want to enjoy them as well :)

@@nandologia_ I have never played a single Zelda game before, but I adore the franchise’s soundtracks. I strongly recommend Skyward Sword Staff Roll, 30th Anniversary edition. It’s regarded to be one of the best medleys of Zelda music.

I think the staff credits for TOTK and BOTW are awesome. But eh, maybe that's just me. TOTK in general has probably the best Zelda music IMO. Staff Credits are no exception.

BotW was lazy like you said, but each region based section in TotK's credits were a unique composition made for the credits. They are individual and segmented because they play in the order you saved each region. I think that's incredibly special and unique.

@@nandologia_ Just wanted to hop in and recommend the staff credits theme for Twilight Princess!! I may be a little biased but it's the best one in my opinion :)
