(1:53) .the widest part of the hoof should be at the center of articulation of the coffin joint...in this hoof the widest part of the hoof is close to the apex of the frog. The apex of the frog is used to reference the tip of the coffin bone.. The fact that the widest part of the hoof is located in front of the center of articulation of the coffin joint...can only mean this hoof has rotation of the coffin bone, seen by your farrier as a wall flare...the rotation of the coffin bone most likely pulled the heels forward...uncorrected this will cause caudal hoof pain and lameness. the root cause should be determined, is this solo incident or are there others?...bruce
