That is adsatly what I thought, something charming about the early 4x4 Steyr puch onwards MK1 pandas even slightly modded . The later 03 onwards looks just great unmodified but modified they look ridiculous. The metallic blue looks like a clown car ' WTF ' was the owner thinking.

I strongly believe its related to the generation in which we grew up, seeing the old boy get through the same obstacles just using mechanicals vs watching the young lad with the electronics. But watch this space, those Mk3s and Mk4s will become classics in no time! Thanks for your support!

Interesting that you mention the diesels don't seem to have the low down torque?? Everytime I see these videos I start looking at Pandas always thought the diesel would be a better option currently own a 500 1.2 and its gutless on hills took it along Bonsall moor once but soon turned around and left that for a day on the small motorbike.

You are correct about the 500 with the 1.2 engine, it is absolutely gutless on hills simply due to the gearing. The Twinair is the best option for power in the 500. The Diesel Multijet in the Cross is a problem on the steeper climbs especially with rocky or wet surfaces because the torque and power doesn't come in until higher up the rev range. As i'm sure you're aware, you need torque to compliment low gearing in order to crawl up these type of surfaces. The Multijet works great on the road however, the car is fast and responsive. It's a good all-rounder but if you are wanting to do tougher off-road stuff then we would recommend a MK3 with the 1.2 petrol engine, or a Mk4 with the Twinair. Thanks for your support!
