I lived and hunted for 27 years in the S.I. and only ever went to the N.I. for one winter of possum hunting in the Kaweka Range, and shot a few sika while there. I am impressed by this video which shows how rugged and similar the Ruahines are to the S. I. alpine. The beech forest, the whole lot, is so similar to S.I. terrain, which I grew up in during the 1960s, worked for NZ Forest Service in the Westland alpine, hunted it until the mid-1980s, and still tramp plenty in it. I have five grandkids now, and it is their heritage and right to have NZ's alpine and free back-country access, hunting, huts, and other resources to enjoy as my generation did. Thanks for sharing this great video.

Hey Gregory Thanks so much for your input! Yes we have a great country for sure! Glad to hear you still get into the back country. I admire the cullers who explored the hills of NZ and made the huts that are now much appreciated by all - well done I hope I bump into you in the hills some day mate!

Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures! It’s a great place to be coming from (doing it for the love, without pressure) I enjoy seeing the “transition” from ocean to bush, although they really are one I. The same as in both environments your always learning about the nature and the self and hunting is instinctual 🙌❤️🤙

Loving the footage Kane, Me and my partner met ya up the very top end of Stoney creek about 8 plus years ago. You where in there with ya camera gear also looking for ya rifle bolt you had lost and later that day I came across another bloke that had found it and I sent him in your direction to return (dive shop in Clive) Have you got any footage from that area?
@thegrundinis41992 жыл бұрын
Hey Kiwibattler yes that is going back! Got my bolt to thanks. I have a bit of footage but those Sika are bloody cunning- hard to film and shoot at the same time aye!

As hunters we all have to do our part otherwise DOC will 1080 and cull them out - the animal was still respected by us.

I agree 1 pair of hind legs to carry out between 3 guys. Carry the meat before the heads.

@@jimbokiwi9322 yeah m8 quite disappointing
@jimbokiwi93222 жыл бұрын
@@alihunter2323 You could come back for the heads. Taking a animal for just some fillets and a head isn't respect.
