Here is more of the same, but now with the crank rotated clockwise (backwards to engine rotation) a few degrees from TDC. In order to show the LH chain slop a little better.

ace crusader the chains are worn - or rather stretched - when the tensioner is a fair way out. Go too far and the tensioners can fall out or chain is so loose it skips a tooth somewhere in the timing gear resulting in pistons meeting valves. Factory guideline is to replace chains every 25000 miles. These were in for around 15000 miles... Eventually I figured out the part number for IWIS Mercedes chains. These are fit for life in MB and BMW out of the factory. Fit and forget. No more sub-standard junk chains that claim to be 'German' by a means of a simple, basic label.

so when the tensioner is good way out that means the chains are stretchd am doing a engine rebuild don't know history of car as mine are good way out going to renew them were do you get these chains on e bay or rimmer bros in the uk
