Stage 2 2015 Subaru Forester XT Review!

I just sat through a 12:02 review of a Forester and - loved every second of it. Why anyone would be watching a review of a McLaren Senna or a Porsche GT3 Touring of equal length, say, is beyond me. Here we learn the ins and outs of a modified Forester that still only gets 2 beans and move on to something else with a smile pasted on our face. Honestly, Sarah, another fun video packed with information.

Sarah, you're definitely not alone with being a bit apprehensive about the XT at first, but then just "getting it" after driving it. Mine sold itself on the test drive...there's really nothing else out there quite like it.

Even if you don't need full-on winter tires out there (I run Blizzak WS80 195-65R15s here in New England), I can't overstate how awesome decent summer rubber is over all-seasons. I put Conti ExtremeContact Sport 205-50ZR17s on my '14 Impreza hatch, purely for wet grip in my case since it rains a bit here. It means I can drive pretty much normally no matter how wet it is. And they've made me want to do suspension upgrades because they're SO much better than any all-seasons! PS: I went with the ExtremeContacts because almost anything summer will have more dry grip than I would ever need with a stock Impreza daily, but the Conti's had the best wet grip in every test I found. Plus they have the cool imprint that tells you when they've worn enough to reduce both the wet and dry handling enough to matter.

I just bought a 2016 2.5 forester and it was love at first test drive. I wanted an suv for a long time and this was perfect, much more roomy than it looks. I love your forester gump!

You've literally done everything I want to do to my (currently bone stock) '15 FXT. They're no track or canyon monsters, but they're fun, practical daily drivers that can take you off road as well. I think few vehicles exist with as much bang for your buck as an FXT.

Hi Sarah, when I lived in San Diego I bought a brand new 1993 Mustang Cobra; which I eventually put a vortek supercharger on it. The car had the beans! I had since moved back to Nebraska and the car just wasn’t the snow mobile, so in 2014 I bought my winter mustang: a 2015 pearl white Subaru Forester xt touring (turbo charged). A very practical buy. The more it snows, the better it drives : )

Only channel that I will follow for my forester needs. I just got a 2018 Forester XT and love it! It is actually my third forester. I especially like launch control hehe. I plan on doing a lot to the car, but nothing too drastic as i love the car and the simplistic look. Thanks for being a channel that actually explains mechanical workings and doesn't just show mods being put on! It's nice when people speak "car" and not "bolt-ons" haha.

Zoë is going to miss the turbo boost when I sell my 2016 FXT soon. Hopefully she will like the sound of the 5.7 liter hemi in the 2019 RAM 1500 crew cab I plan on buying as soon as I sell the Subi. We are driving my wife's slightly modified 2015 Unlimited Rubicon to the Maine Mountains Jeep Jamboree tomorrow. Next year we will trailer my highly modified 2007 Unlimited Wrangler behind the RAM.

Thanks for the great review Sarah! I’ve had 6 Subaru’s. A1978 4wd wagon, 1985 4wd wagon, 1990 awd wagon 1997 outback. Currently I have a 2008 Outback and my wife has a 2017 legacy sedan. Love the legacy despite the Cvt. I avoided doing the complicated cvt fluid change and paid the dealer $280 to do it🙁

We traded in our Forester. It was the plain jane 2010. Had the leaking head gasket issue. I traded it for an Outback, I am glad I did really. I am older, so I dont need a sports car like that. We get LOTS OF SNOW here. what I do need is a car that can ha ndle snow. Not that the Forester didnt. I was suprised to find the Outback doesnt have duel exaust. My first Subaru had a faulty antiback fire valve. I loved hearing it back fire when pulling into the store lot. Shut it off...3...2...1... BAM! big back fire. After an old lady dropped her groceries, I learned to stall the car out under a load and it wouldnt back fire. I saved the backfiring so the neighborhood dogs would go crazy. It was a 1980' s Subaru Wagon.

Great review, I always wondered about Forester Gump. Seeing your Forester when I first found your channel made me seriously consider buying an XT. As someone with an 09 Impreza Outback Sport, I want more power so the WRX/STI was natural, but the utility of the hatch (like my car) made the XT so attractive. In the end, I'm waiting until the next gen WRX to replace my aging hatch. Thank you for your channel and have learned so much about cars from watching you. Also it is nice to see Tucson again (I once lived there for just over 3 yrs).

Watching this video makes me really miss Arizona...and driving those empty desert roads. Sarah, there is a great tuner shop in Arizona called DynoComp in Scottsdale. Richard is the owner, and tunes everything from Bugatti’s to Subaru’s. I believe they even had a very featured WRX back in the day. Check them out sometime.

Hi Sarah, great video ! I sold my manual SG XT and upgraded to a white SJ XT last week. Your videos on your foz have been really informative - thanks! I agree it’s a great daily. I am currently planning a lot of similar upgrades to mine. Already got the rally armour flaps fitted. In the UK the SJ isn’t popular and no one stocks parts so I will be looking to USA & JP for parts. Love your humour 🙂

Scooby Doo are masters at suspension tuning and handling, the ride on my old sport wagon was excellent - very plush and absorbent on rough roads, minimal body roll and it would stick to the twisties like something rude to a sheet.

Hey Sarah, I just bought a 2017 Forester 2.0XT Touring last week. It has the saddle brown interior and I pearl white. I went from a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland CRD (diesel) to this. So I am going to probably go more towards adventure style than street JDM. By that I mean the suspension (probably 2" lift), wheel/ tire will be meatier, and outside will be a bit different for gear but I want to do all the performance upgrades power wise. I can't wait to empty my pockets on it. Haha. Thanks for the great video which got me more excited and gave insightful help on what I want to do.

I would say. It depends on what you're really after. My xt hit 20psi racing a 525i which was fun, but the amount of fuel ups gets tiring lol.

What you want as your next project is a Lotus super 7 clone or if you want some extra speed, go for a Radical with a Hayabusa V8... Then we'll watch as you begin a path to road racing. You'll love both for their simplicity
