Everyone is getting cancer. I am a triple negative, stage 2 breast cancer "survivor" which is actually remission, going on 10 years in March of 2025. While I am grateful that I healed, I hated every second of it. No one told me that I'd gain weight. No one told me I'd be depressed. No one told me I'd come through but have PTSD after chemo & radiation. I'll be 60 next year. I don't think I could do it again. Whenever God calls me home, I will be there to answer Him. 🦋❤

How do people handle the expense of all of this-hospitals, specialists, integrated/alternative treatment?

@@LindadeJardin this is an excellent question. In this case, insurance covered it but that’s certainly a privilege and not always the case, unfortunately.

@@YoungLungCancer you go through many agency’s different programs etc. my hubby had CML and the medication he started with gleevec and at that time was a $100.00 a pill. And he had to take our every day. Was crazy

I too have a broken gene not one I was born with. I have a two different cancers.. thyroid and a red blood cell/marrow cancer. I’m on a chemo drug and partially covered by a grant and the rest insurance. I’ve been blessed w my med team’s and everything has been covered. I’ve seen many not covered and it’s tough. The hardest for us is the traveling because we are in a tiny town.

We have regular Medicare and a supplement. MD Anderson has not cost us anything significant out of pocket. Many free places to stay when an outpatient.

Do you think there could be another cause for the cancer other than radon being that so many young women are being affected? Maybe it could be an exposure that primarily affects women ie cosmetics etc... It just seems like this nsclc egfr exon 19 is happening to mostly women. If it was radon wouldn't we expect it to be equally happening to young men?
@YoungLungCancer2 ай бұрын
Yes lung cancer is on the rise in many young women- radon actually doesn’t contribute to that many cases of lung cancer in never smokers per year, neither does second hand smoke exposure - Of the ~40,000 non smokers diagnosed with lung cancer each year in the US, only ~6,400 of these cases are related to radon and second hand smoke exposure ~3500 shs ~2900 radon
@YoungLungCancer2 ай бұрын
EGFR isn’t typically associated with radon exposure. Also a recent study found that short term exposure to air pollution increased EGFR in women and not men Short-Term Exposure to Air Pollution May Drive Lung Cancer in Never-Smokers. A significant association was found between short-term exposure to PM2.5 and EGFR mutations in females with lung cancer.”
