I’m from the Chicago area too! I actually just walked into a small store outside the city, I was in shock to find two of these behind the counter at $70. I thought I’d never own this bottle. Today got lucky. Right place right time. Great review!

This is the only Stagg batch I've been able to try. This tastes like barrel proof eagle rare to me. Grape soda, cherry, rich vanilla, tobacco, sweet oak, mild spice/cinnamon. There is a brand of cane sugar soda made a couple towns over from me called Spring Grove soda pop. I doubt it is distributed to a market as large as Illinois but it's available in the tri-state area of MN/WI/IA. Anyways, the grape soda note in mash bill #1 Buffalo Trace products is exactly like the Spring Grove grape soda! It's delicious! They make many other flavors as well including cream soda, creamy orange, rhu-berry (rhubarb and strawberry), strawberry, orange, black cherry, root beer and lemon sour (which makes fantastic whiskey sours btw!!!).
