Producer here to some trivia : Stahlkrieg RPG is a fan base world of iron and steam inspired by Pacific Rim and Scythe tabletop. Before the Fall, humanity spread to the four corners of the world. Our ancestors built great cities and conquered new lands. Progress became the engine of change. In the flames of the Cataclysm and the Kaiju Wars, much of what once was disappeared into the limbo of history. The death of the old world conditions the emergence of the new. This song depict four mecha pilot. The pilots are rock stars, adored champions whose pride is often as great as their steel mounts. They are human, but in the "bodies" of gods of war. Cranial implants and a gene make them able to pilot this machine, which makes them very rare individuals. Humanity in the world of Stahlkrieg would rather lose an entire city than one of its precious pilots. These four don't really like each other and rarely collaborate, only when the situation really demands it for the survival of the human race. The pilots are as follows: - The Red Khan (Elżbieta Czetwertyński-Światopełk), younger sister of the Queen of the Sarmatian Steppes. She is a fierce and brutal fighter, exclusively dedicated to hand-to-hand combat with a large spear in one hand and a sword in the other. Impetuous. Crazy. More than pugnacious. These and other adjectives have been used to describe the Red Khan. Woman and machine share these traits: aggressive, daring and difficult, if not impossible, to restrain. She is always eager to attack, and will do so with relentless fervour. - The Iron Prince of Heilgrund (Strefan Heilgrund) came from the oldest family in Teutonia. Once candidate for the imperial throne, he was defeated by one of his rivals. His mecha is a short-range monster of the latest generation. Its design serves to implement one of the most important commandments of the Teutonic Code of Chivalry: get close enough to the enemy, engage him with enough force to show respect for his resistance, and shoot him down quickly. To do this, Heilgrund is equipped with a gigantic golden axe and a very rare weapon called the Tesla Thruster. It is used at close range, so that Heilgrund can look his opponent in the eye before cutting him down. The Tesla Thruster is a terrifying weapon that, despite its limited range for its size, is capable of shearing the legs off a large Kaiju with a concentrated burst. Heilgrund always seeks to set an example in battle by hunting down the largest and most dangerous enemies, to the detriment of his own safety. - The King of Hearts (Giovanni Villanova) Probably the most experienced pilot still alive. He is a native of Lucania, a man of great wealth and intrigue. His mecha is versatile and his model forms the backbone of most forces, as its popularity has never waned during conflicts. Villanova is a tactician who prefers to fight defensively (some would say without honour), wearing down his opponents with medium range fire before engaging them with his spear and shield. He wears a large cape made of Kaiju skin, trophies and witnesses of his victories. - The Sun Emperor of Francia (Napoleon X). The young emperor honours his prestigious ancestors despite his despotic nature. He pilots a versatile and terribly destructive weapons platform. His standard long-range weaponry is the Gatling gun. Any opponent who escapes the curtain of fire must then avoid the great arcs of the Mecha's signature melee weapon, the Eagle Claw. This huge, spiky blade is usually used to destroy larger targets. It also incorporates a heavy flamethrower to drive enemies from cover. It is this combination of medium-range firepower and assault skill that makes the Cesar such a formidable opponent and popular ally. Its motto is "my honour never begs".

You know, considering how very similar the song is to 'Blood and Cred' - different universes, whatevs - I think it would go nicely as a series, at least in someones head-canon. 1st part is 'Stahlkrieg' - elite warrior unit fighting, in at least some capacity, for the sake of mankind. 2nd part is 'Blood and Cred' - the last survivor of Stahlkrieg lost whatever honor and faith in mankind he still had, be it from a betrayal or just finally cracking, and now works as a one-man army for the highest bidder and the sweet, sweet feeling of recoil in his bones. 3rd part... not here, yeah. Would be nice to make it sort of a Last Stand type of thing, where the last pilot arrives at the crucial moment either to right at least some wrongs or just die in glory. But, like, whatever.

I imagine it similar but in reverse order. "Blood and Cred" is about a jaded mercenary who has grown weary of having attachments in his line of work. "Stahlkrieg" is that same mercenary meeting 3 similar individuals who become a team and eventually form bonds of friendship and camaraderie that they've all previously given up on.

This is clearly a parody to blood and creed, but the instrumental feels "darker", i dont know why it feels groomier than blood and creed despite the lyrics being more lighthearted (blood and creed seems to emphasize on the more cruel details of war, especially in the beginning) it still feels more serious, it sounds like these mercs actually have some sort of morality (the lyrics of this song sing about honor and glory) or are fighthing against some threat to mankind (lyrics also mention kaijus) while the merc of blood and creed just saw far too much bloodshed and strife to care about it anymore and this is reflected by instruments of blood and creed being more... Light? Despite its lyrics. While here we have this darker instrumentation to reflect what is at stake here, (the merc on the original song was probably just a vet that if killed would at best be missed by his squadmates, the mercs here seem to be a lot more important people, therefore losing them would be a significant loss to any army,) despite the more cheerful lyrics.

Indeed ! In Stahlkrieg lore, Mecha pilots have continued to consolidate their status as the protectors of humanity. Fearsome in battle and true to their word, Nations will always seek their assistance as allies. The daily life of a pilot is dictated by traditions that they pride themselves on observing with constancy and firmness. The mental conditioning that imposes on pilots a strong respect for the hierarchy has the side effect of exacerbating their ambition. Clearly, they are driven to outdo their peers in order to be recognised as the most powerful of them all. This explains the obsession with contests of skill but also their equal preoccupation with political intrigue. They are "knights" in the historical sense of the word. People of war living for it and by it, sometimes in defiance of the people they must save. The instrumental feels darker on purpose, we use string and drama cords for a heavier atmosphere
