Chris doesn't fit into any genre; he's his own genre. He definitely has country, soul, gospel and jazz influences. He's a once in a generation talent. I love seeing the look on someone's face the first time he hits those fried notes. You've only scratched the surface of his talent. He writes most of his own songs, as well as songs for other well known artists. He's been in the business as a songwriter for years, and has been in a couple bands, a bluegrass band called the Steeldrivers, and another band called the Jompson Brothers. He did a song with them called "Barely Alive" that's amazing. I would also recommend "I Was Wrong", live at the Bing Lounge. He did Tennessee Whiskey during that concert as well. You will see his wife singing backup, as she does on many of his recordings. Other great songs of his are "Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore", which he wrote in 15 minutes, when his wife was getting ready for a night out. "Death Row", "Say Something" (collaboration with Justin Timberlake", they did a two song set at the CMA awards, which is great. "What Are You Listing To", "Fire Away", "Might As Well Get Stoned", "Millionaire", "Parachute" "Midnight Train To Memphis", "Broken Halos", "Nobody's Lonely Tonight", "Traveler" "Nobody To Blame", "Fool Me Again", "Whiskey And You", "Either Way", "Amanda" (live at the Grand Old Opry), he did an eight song set at Farm Aid that will blow you away. You can't go wrong with him, he walks on water!

If you haven't listened to "Gavin's Song", you should. It's beautiful and performed like this one with just an acoustic guitar. Just like with Chris, it showcases his beautiful, soulful voice.
