Amazing image quality . Those archives are priceless. As much as the fantastic work these artisans were doing .

So much work, but it lasts forever, I guess. I can smell the putty from here though, such a strong smell.

As fascinating as my books on Amazon and Lulu.

New lead is not a great problem , Old oxidised lead is more readily absorbed although it’s excreted slowly so if care is taken it’s usually OK. The red lead in the sealant is however very harmful.

i often say put me in a medieval glass studio and i would be able to be useful, and vice versa give me a medieval glass artisan and (he) would feel at home. not much has changed, its all still recognisable. I must saythough, i am so glad we have colours now it must hav been a bit boring just doing black white and grey in those days

I wonder what health concerns there are with handling raw lead like that...

Terrible. Ive been a glazier for 15 years. I studied in a few different studios, worked for the church. In my short time in the business it has changed a lot. Many more safety precautions that make doing this job much more safe!
