Me and Curtis went to Tokyo to continue the Game Hunting and to see if Akihabara really was empty and full of tourists. First stop at the most unique Video Game Store that Akihabara has to offer, BEEP!
In this store, you can find more than your usual retro games as it has a ton of computers and arcade stuff as well.
Our buddy ‪@ScruffyLookinRGB‬ also joined in here.
Enjoy the walkthrough of this amazing store!

Great to see you hooking up with Scruffy and awesome you got permission to film in BEEP. From what I always understood, they were never to keen on people filming and even showed youtubers the door for filming. Regarding BEEP itself, my heart still hurts for not having visited the store when we were there. My wallet on the other hand is grateful as I would have probably walked out with an MSX Turbo-R or MSX 2/2+, together with a bunch of games 😂

Thanks Mark! Glad to see you in the comment section here! Yes, BEEP recently changed their rules regarding filming and photography. So hope to see more video from this place on YT now! Oh really, thats too bad. Actually I missed out on it the first time I was in Akihabara too. But this has to be one of the best stores in Akihabara, thats for sure! Haha oh nice! Well, it might hurt the wallet at the time, but its also an investment :D

I took a bunch of pictures in BEEP a few weeks ago when I was in Japan, they didn't have a problem with it. I also picked up the hard to find Wangan Midnight Soundtrack and PC-Engine Coregrafx body for a decent price, they were very nice to me, especially since I spoke some Japanese @@RetroMoments

Beep is by far my favorite store in Japan and I got an insane steal from them back in May of this year. they were selling US Saturn and US Sega CD games all complete as low as 300 yen! i was honestly stunned as I've never seen them that cheap ever in my life and I took around 20 games complete, there was more but I left some for others to take. great video, thanks!

Totally get why it is :D Oh wow, thats crazy. So those games were in the junk section or where did you find them? I felt like I shouldve taken more time with this store. Amazing atmosphere in there and definitely reasonable prices overall.

Beep is such a charming store. Definitley the retro shop with the best atmosphere of the ones I´ve visited in Japan. Hope you and Scruffy had a good time! Tec Toy is a fascinating company. They are the ones with the license to sell AND produce Sega games in Brazil. Master System is huge in Brazil and was sold decades after it was discontinued elsewhere. Tec Toy produced several games of their own including downports like Street Fighter II and Mortal kombat for Master System. Duke Nukem for Genesis does not have the same kind of levels the original games has, but at least similar graphics.

Oh yeah, it really is. Couldnt agree with you more on that. Thanks, we had a good time. Scruffy is great guy! Oh so thats what they do! Had no idea about that, thanks Björn! Yea Ive heard that Master System is really popular in South America, but not more that that. Thats really cool. I have to look up those ports now and see how they play.

as much as I enjoy walking around Akiba and the retro shops....buying is on a total different level nowadays.... with prices soaring, places filled with resellers and the shops feeling sometimes like your visiting a place in Paris or Rome.... it's a bit like Akihabara has lost it's "soul" visited the place first in 1999 and from my experience retro heaven was during 2002-2007/8. lot's of awesome deals to be had.
@RetroMoments
@RetroMoments 9 ай бұрын
I mean, youre right about that. Akihabara has changed a lot. Which makes sense because 20 years ago things were different. Also, Japanese culture and Japanese games has gained more popularity than ever before so Im not surprised we're at this state now. But in my opinion, theres still deals out there. Its just much harder than before of course.

It was neat to see those working MSX 2 computers working. I'm curious are you living it Japan now or did you take a vacation over there and film a lot of video? Either way great stuff as always!!!

Hahaha love that! Glad we could surprise you, man! 😃 Yea, it’s not everyday you see an MSX 2! I feel like this is something I might dive into at some point. Thanks dude! Glad to have you here! The reason I go to Japan (other than hunting for games of course) is to visit friends, help out some company’s and just live life on the other side. So mostly I am Sweden. But I go to Japan every year for an undecided time, if that makes sense! 😃
