In my experiance though, EaW's "Star Father" currently holds the crown for being the spiciest. Southern Alaska definitely has horses. Even in the winter the climate stays pretty mild (temps hover around 40 F) and some of the most breathtaking horseback riding trails in North America are located in the Alaskan national parks around Anchorage.

If i recall my history correctly France had a rather good relationship with the Indeginous People compared to most colonial powers during the 1700's and so on, so maybe that is why the creator of that Alaska bit wanted to keep to the theme?

I remeber learning why most nations struggled with natives and the French didn't, apparently the british tried to use gold and weapons and most tribes didn't see a use for gold (obviously) and most guns of the time weren't as good as their bows for hunting big animals, the French however had thick wool coats to trade, ornate weapons like swords and hatchets, and tomahawks after a while, which tribes like a lot more than the gold and guns, the only tribes nobody could reason with were mainly the Comanchee because well... Comanche don't give a fuck and offering them your single shot gun that misses super often in their eyes was worthless to them, for over 100 years no nation went into Comanche territory, because they used tactics similar to ghengis khan except better and faster, with tougher bows, and sharper arrows
