@Nate J. Over the years there was a great deal of Cold War propanganda against Stalin. As he was the most prominent leader of the World's first socialist state the capitalist propaganda machine went into overdrive to blacken his name in order to deflect attention away from the achievements of socialism in the Soviet Union. There's plenty of information about these achievements on KZbin by the Finnish Bolshevik and Tavarisch Endymion and others. If you care to do the necessary research you will find the truth.

When the Nazis captured Stalin’s son and demand the release of a german general for return of his son, Stalin refused, later stating that “Just think how many sons ended in camps! As a real communist, who refused the more modern social democratic ideas and instead of that adhered only to the communist manifesto, he was quite succesfull. Because he immedietly resigned and gave the power to the poor, the poor were able to finally abolish the private property. With that, there was no need for money anymore, so everybody had access to everything according to their needs instead of assets. Without private property to defend, soon the people realized, that there is no need for the state and nation anymore, so without the need, the russian nation ceased to exist. Then that happened with families to. The people realized, that it's better to live in communes like people did in prehistoric times. Sorry for my english. I'm living in a second world country, still 20 years behind the history.

Zoltán Gyarmathi It is well against the stalin himself.. In communist society, there is no need of state. When there is no state, there is no need of General secretary and his privileges... So, Stalin himself turned against advancement in to socialism and communism.. Instead, he wanted to keep Soviet Union as a bureaucratic state.. He openly declared that "He did not want to establish the Socialism or communism... it is a mere tragic joke... he is not at all interested in world revolution.". Refer his interview to Mr. Roy Howard. Communist international was converted into a caricature... He even abolished the Soviets in 1936 constitution. Communist international was also liquidated later...

@@springtheyounger7560 m8 are you a Trotskyite? and he wanted to build up the USSR before a worldwide revolution, otherwise they would be crushed instantly. They were still modernizing from the Russian empire, why do you think there was the 5 year plan? After that, he gave aid to Partisans and revolutionaries under fascist-occupied and small semi-feudalist countries, eventually establishing other Communist states. If that's not spreading Communism, I don't know what is.

@@johntomlinson6849 That is a worthless tome of nonsense. It is propaganda. Like his 'Young Stalin', Sebag-Montefiore does no source checking. If it is an attack on Stalin, it's in the book regardless of where it comes from. He includes claims made by Nazi and Tsarist propagandists for example. He cites people like Conquest (an Mi6 and CIA agent) without any quibble. A historian needs to check claims made. Most 'historians' dealing with the USSR don't do this. They print everything they can get hold of that attacks the USSR, Stalin and communism in general. The whole period is a mess historically, and it's hardly surprising since most people writing about it are not historians, they are people pursuing current political convictions.
