Astro Bot needs to win and kick off a new era of AAA platformers. Xbox owns Crash Bandicoot and other classic franchises, and we need all the big three competing with Nintendo. Furthermore, it's the most next-gen game on the list. The way it visualizes progress with fully animated and individualized mobs of bots, that level where you can shrink and grow freely and explore a 3d space equally detailed from any perspective, using particle effects and small objects just for... joy, and having the processing overhead to do it.

GOTY really should exclude DLC or ongoing content. I'm totally fine with them being part of DLC/Expansion or Ongoing awards as it's own category. Its absolutely not a self contained game experience.SM2 & HD2 deserve to be on that list more than Elden Ring's DLC content. It should go somewhere else if it's still relevant as a contender on content supplied in 2024.
