Greatly underrated action movie in it's own right much less a Predator movie. Predator, Predator 2, Predators, Prey. The others don't exist to me.

I've love so many of your videos and the Predator 2 ones have been amazing. You've really gone into the detail of why I love this movie so much. The Train attack and Harrigan on the roof are breaks in logic but the movie keep moving. Kevin Peter Hall had more scope to emote in this movie, it made the Predators in both of his movies feel different through his performances. The Medical scene is great, with new little technologies but still using the environment like the tiles. I always interpreted the breather as a medical aid rather than a necessity, the first Predator showed no compunction to removing his helmet for the final battle, but this one needed the breather specifically because he was injured and not because the air was toxic. Though only for a short time, Harrigan had no difficulty breathing inside the Predator ship. Another small moment that might seem silly but always caught my eye was the elder shoulder cannon. It looks as though he looks over to it and it bows in stages. I suspect this was simply a quirk of the practical effect rather than a choice. But it was almost as though their cannon was a companion rather than a mere tool. It almost had personality and had to be kept in line. While still prefer 1, there are so many things that 2 does better. Part of my preference may even be down to sheer bloody-minded loyalty to the original simply for being the original. They are so different but so close in quality. Arnie was a staple of the 80's and 90's with so many great movies... but Danny Glover was an amazing leading man for this movie. Not just an Arnie clone... he was his own man.

Great video as usual! The reason Jerry couldn't hit the Predator was because his weapon was a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol, which is basically a peashooter against the Predator. Now if he had something like Mac's M60 from the 1st film, the outcome would have been different. Predator 1987 will always be my favorite, but Predator 2 is my favorite sequel in this franchise because it went its own way, while further establishing the culture of the Yautja (Predator) species.

Your enthusiasm for both of these movies really shows and all credit to you for asking the big question. Personally I'd go for for Predator 2 every time because it seems to deal more with ''real'' people, whereas the guys in the original were almost caricatures. BUT I'd still watch the original any day of the week if it fell in front of me. Both are superb examples of how to do it right. Thanks for the usual excellent quality video. What did I do before you came along? lol. You've given me a reason to look forward to Fridays 🙂

I’m curious. Since Kevin did such a superb job playing the predator in the first two films, what do you think of Bolaji Badejos performance of the original xenomorph. For me there’s something creepy and unsettling about his movements; like it’s more intelligent and mysterious than the crew realises.
@RepresentThis
@RepresentThis Күн бұрын
Bolaji is the greatest alien ever. The way he moved was menacing and yet graceful. Later aliens moved like animals or angry humanoids bursting with frustration. Bolaji's slow movements evoked curiosity and purpose and that I think, made the first film the one with the scariest alien EVER because you never knew what its true intent was. Was it going to defile you, keep you alive, kill you slow. You never could tell. Later movies would make you feel like the aliens killed you quick or took you to the hive and that was that. Bolaji was perfect.

The netting around the Predator his cloaking device gives him insulation from the lightning, getting shot at on the train Bill is only using a small arms probably a 9 mm probably not powerful enough to puncture a predator. Maybe the cloaking device could deflect the bullets.

I will say, Alien vs. Predator was a lot of fun. It's not as great as this film, Alien, Aliens, or the original Predator, but if it had been the only sequel to those films, it would've been a nice capstone to both franchises. This one film is a lot of fun to watch. It does something completely different from the first film, but that's a positive. The problem with most franchises is that they get stale from the same themes and storytelling. This one took it all in a different direction and it just works.

I’m a little bummed out it’s over. You covered the two best and imo only predator movies. I wanted to point out a goof in the movie and its quite a big one but it doesn’t really break the movie for me; once the predator loses his mask, we still get to see his thermal vision pov. As opposed to the very disturbing reddish view the predator has in the first movie after it takes off the helmet. I’m curious how you feel about that. If this means you have to rewatch it again, then my mission is complete 😂

I prefer Predator 2 over the original, though both are great. The City Hunter Predator was sloppy and got himself killed, but I really appreciated his go-getter attitude. He should have been smarter, though.

Lambert wasn't particularly well armed, these creatures could have much tougher skin, denser muscles and bones, we can see the damage in the car roofs from the weight, so I guess those pistol rounds would bounce off like the ball he eventually throws. Outcome might be different if he had Blaine's Minigun....
