Hi Andrew. i appreciate your feedback comments. I love my work as an instructor and yes I wish some others had a way to improve their interpersonal relationships when instructing. Cheers Ian

The Jabiru 160 and 170 are great Aircraft, robust, economical and can handle some amazing conditions. Ailerons are more than sufficient for crosswinds. Bush and short strips may not be their best attribute. You might look at STOL aircraft like Foxbat for one.

He seems like a great instructor - not like one of my gliding instructors who sat in the back and whistled - and made the comment when I landed that "we are back on the ground in one piece so I guess you did ok"

The ailerons seem a bit on the small side. How does it perform in crosswinds and slow speed in general? I might be lookin for an affordable allround plane that can comfortably get in an out of grass strips and private fields. No real bush plane, but a rugged and safe plane. The Jabbie J170D is a pretty little plane, but it has the smallest ailerons I've seen.

once you get used to the sight picture and stop flying it like a cessna, the 170 is a forgiving docile aircraft.
