🕐 TIMELINE 🕘 [00:00] INTRO [01:48] THE UPGRADE [11:53] BEFORE AND AFTER Since i've got this bass i never change anything except the tone capacitor, the stock alpha pots get very loose and i didn't like the bridge sound too much so i find a cheap J bass pickup with high K ohms to try, in the demo before and after you can hear the difference i made it with old and new strings to be fair. 📃 Jaguar Bass Upgrade List: redir.love/nChZZmoW ▶Squier Jaguar Unboxing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmXMgY14haZrp7s ▶️ Tutorials/Demos/Other Stuffs: goo.gl/fy4m9H 🔧My Gear: goo.gl/SjER7V 🎧 Listen my Music: smarturl.it/StabosMusic ★★★ Thanks for Watching! ★★★

I have one of these and can play it for hours, pain free. Long live the short scale!

Did you have flat wound strings on initially and then switch them to round wounds? Flat wounds are weird. Defintieky something you need to get use to (both the sound AND the feel of the strings). I have this bass in medium scale (concentric/stacked pots with individual tone/volume… pretty rad). Anyway, the biggest thing that needs and upgrade to me (besides fixing a few high frets) is the weak output jack. A switchcraft or Puretone jack upgrade needs to take place pronto. Thanks for your video, man! It’s great to see people document their upgrade process.

I imagine some flatwounds would help you retain that initial THUD you had prior to the mods, which was not a bad tone by any means. Kinda got more or a standard issue P-bass tone after the mods, seems to me Mustangs really shine when they got that thick low end thump to 'em.

The P pups are fine. The rear pup is weak and would need to be replaced to get a decent balance.

Old strings definitely sound more vintage and better imo :) New pick sounds a bit clearer. What does P BASS mean? Precision bass?
@StamatisStabos Жыл бұрын
Yes precision bass, the new strings are more for punk and post rock, now after months of use the sound less bright, recently I changed the pickups the DiMarzio check the video link from the description

Honestly, it seems like the strings made more of a difference than the electronics

I just ordered this exact bass last night, albeit one that needs a lot of love (the skull knobs were listed as an "upgrade"). I'm planning on putting a Fender high mass bridge, Seymour Duncan quarter pounder pickups, and new pots. My challenge is that I am, at best, passable at soldering, so I was looking at the pre-wired Golden Age kits for a J bass on Stew Mac. Do you know if the pots for the Jaguar are the same a J bass? Two volume, a tone, and an output jack seems right.

Nice setup Sean, i think they have the same pots i recoment to get Fender CTS pots

These videos are great. I'll be honest the only part that trips me up is the soldering. I've got very little experience. How did you learn?
@StamatisStabos3 жыл бұрын
Yes I was afraid too, I still suck at this but the n the ended everything works, you have to practice on some surface and watch some soldering tutorials from Stew Mac, better to buy a soldering station not a cheap iron only because some don't have temperature adjustment and may burn the electronics. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e16yY4d9pKalqLs

I wanted to buy this bass, but what put me off, was how extremely cheap everything feels on it, the bridge, tuners, pots, and so on, so I realized I would have to change everything, except the body and neck, and that seemed like too much of an investment at the moment. So I got an Indonesia made Squier CV 60s Jazz Bass instead. But a shortscale Jaguar or Mustang is still a dream for me, so maybe in the future it will be my second bass, who knows.
@StamatisStabos3 жыл бұрын
The Mustang bass looks so good! Yes the clasic vibe series its quality guitars but you need to make some upgrades to be compared to the Fender and played properly, once you do it there is no big difference, plus you make the upgrade by your self and worth more all the expirience and the work you made
@Great-Documentaries2 жыл бұрын
LOL! The bridge and tuners are just like the ones Fender put on his original basses during his time owning the company. You really have no clue. They are fine as is (the tuners are 18:1). Just like the ones on the CV Jazz bass. And the CV Jazz bass uses the same pots and the same vintage style bridge (different barrels).
