Papermaker here. Just a note about the glitter: it's microplastic, which means it's not good for the environment. I'd advise against using it as an inclusion for handmade paper. During cleanup, it can go down the drain and into the water system, and in plantable paper, it can contaminate the soil it's planted in. Organic materials like dried flowers, grasses, and natural fibres like unraveled hemp string are great, though and naturally biodegrade. Another thing to consider is what kinds of seeds you use. Some seeds introduce invasives into the soil, or the plants that grow can't survive in some growing regions. Do a little research to find the best seeds for the area where the paper will most likely be planted. Cheers!

Please be weary of using so-called eco-glitter. New research is finding that it can still affect the environment (in some studies it can cause just as much damage to the environment as ordinary glitter). It's better to just not use any glitter, your paper will still look great!

Thank you for the video! So easy to watch! No obnoxious loud intro or graphics just a simple well filmed demonstration. 👏 This really helped me understand what to do.

Heather, I have wanted to make home-made paper since FOREVER! LOL I always thought you had to add glue to this mixture & am VERY HAPPY to know I don' t need to do that! THANKS Heather!!!! ;) BEAUTIFUL PAPERS!!!! ;) I will DEFINITELY try this! ;)

You could also cut shapes out of the paper and use them as embellishments. I can't wait to see what beautiful cards people will make tonight.

We made beaucoups of handmade paper in my graphic design class. Our instructor really wanted us to learn everything from the beginning. I must say, after about a week of jockeying for position in the tub and on the sheets to dry, I was freaking tired of it. However, I still have all my paper and I love it.

Awesome video,. When the paper is done can it be bendable to make a card? Can it also be used for scrapbooking.

Yes and yes! The consistency of the pulp and the amount of water are very important for the thickness of the final result, so you could make a lot with it once you try it and understand how to control that.

I've had some success running my handmade paper through my inkjet printer, but it depends on the texture. Too bumpy, and it won't work very well.

This is a great video but please don't use glitter in plantable paper. It is not biodegradable and is bad for the environment. It's true there is biodegradable glitter but most people don't know about this if not mentioned in the video.

Eco-glitter can be problematic too...sigh. Best to stick with plant-based inclusions.
