Stan Wawrinka US Open 2019 has gone off to a flying start as he faces Novak Djokovic in the last 16 of the event. Wawrinka known for his powerful one handed backhand has struggled to string more than a few wins together all season as he mounts a comeback from ongoing injuries starting with knee problems in 2017 and a back injury that finished his 2018 season early. I watched Stan hit at Indian Wells about as close or closer than this guy is for 30-45 minutes. Stans backhand is so good that no one really talks about how menacing his forehand is. He hits the ball so pure. His backhand is obviously prettier but his forehand is no joke.

I would love to play/practice with someone who can keep the ball down the middle of court on a consistent basis. Whenever I see stuff like this it makes me less inclined to play with players at my club, none of them has enough control to be able to have a good solid 30 minutes of hitting.

I started with a full eastern. Very hard to time. Then my coach let me try a semi western. It goes smoother and is more consistent but full eastern is more fun with more pop. semi western = consistency (bad for high balls) eastern = more pop/more difficult to time with angle/ easier for high balls

i find eastern also has more natural drive to the ball. you can really rip forehands once you get the timing right and all

@@joekim3757 Hmmm. My one hand back hand eastern kill shot is my strongest shot. Coming from a table tennis background, my backhand is so sound and solid for defense that I learned how to use timed defense to offense. When they are pumping the intensity, i use their own power against them. I defend for like some shots until they are trying a kill shot. Once the ball goes above my waist, I can kill it with my backhand.
