i kind of hate the count down of where are they now . River Phenix is a total tragedy, dead at 23 . Wil Wheaton is a success story . Cory Feldman got compared to the other Corey . Sick sad world , they were all perfect in "Stand by Me" . It was such a good a good movie because the director fleshed it out so well . the screenwriter took a short story and turned it into a full length movie . Cudos

I get so frustrated over River's death. Creepy thing is that they all kind of ended up like their characters did in life... This movie is a true masterpiece and is one of my favorite movies ever, it just hits home. Only 23, whole life ahead of him... the kind of talent he had is something you don't see often. If I could bring back one gone celebrity it would be him. He was beautiful in and out. Today he'd be standing next to his little brother and they'd be taking the world by storm. I have huge respect for Joaquin, I hope they'll be reunited once again one day. I can't imagine losing your big bro in that way...

This is my favorite coming-of-age movie. I can watch it again and again without ever getting bored. River Phoenix’s performance was just stellar. He would’ve been a Hollywood A Lister, just like his brother Joaquin if he was still alive today. RIP River.

River's characters were vulnerable, raw and genuine much similar to James Dean. River was one of the finest actors, ever.

The first time I saw this movie was on cable tv in either the late 90s or the early 2000s when it was edited for television. I later saw the uncut version of the film and immediately connected with it. To this day, it remains one of my all time favorite coming of age films, as well as a favorite of Stephen King’s work. And I have actually had the privilege of meeting two of the stars of this film so far. Last year I got to meet Kiefer Sutherland at a convention along with two of his Young Guns costars Dermot Mulroney and Lou Diamond Phillips, and one Lost Boys costar, Jason Patric. Kiefer was super nice and friendly to talk to. And over this past weekend I got to meet Bradley Gregg at another convention. He told me all about how he and River had been the best of friends up until the day he passed away and how they had made this film, along with Explorers and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade together. I also learned that he served as a pallbearer at River’s funeral. I hope I get the chance to meet Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell and John Cusack one day too.

I was about to say I don't know any of these since I never saw the movie but I picked out three I recognized. Obviously River Phoenix but I know Corey Feldman and surprisingly Jerry O Connell.
