@@CrimsonArchon Which means absolutely nothing today. Your Kitchenaid was made 35 years ago when appliances were made to last. What about the new models? I would love to see someone disassemble a 35 year old Kitchenaide and compare it to a current new disassembled Kitchenaide. I would like to see if the same quality parts are used. I've seen many online complaints that Kitchenaide no longer builds to last. Though I wonder if the lesser quality ones are the ones Wal-Mart sells. Sometimes brands sell inferior products to Wal-Mart to sell. I know HP did with their computers. Also, there could be counterfeit look alikes. Never buy name brand on Amazon. Nice comparisons, I would have loved to see how the dough hooks work, especially since they are in the three different major shapes; the KitchenAid’s “C” shaped dough hook, the Kmix’s spiral dough hook, and the Aucma’s “J” shaped dough hook. I reckon a yeast dough test would really be an interesting one to see.
@louisbaldaccini76904 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. Bread dough has been the downfall of many a machine.
@flowergod124 жыл бұрын
If you make dough in small batches aucmas J shapes worked pretty well. I found that if my dough ball was any larger than 3 or 4 cups the dough would move onto the top of the attachment and eventually get in the attaching part of the hook and the slings which got annoying fast. It made me really want the kitchen aid since their attachment thought about that and blocks out the dough from touching anything that it doesn’t need to
@MaZEEZaM4 жыл бұрын

My kitchenaid is at least 20 years old and still works without problem. Have had to replace the wire whisk . The new whisk has stainless steel wires but the bit where it attaches is now made from an inferior metal so it is not recommended to be put in the dishwasher. That is a negative for me. The other negative bit is when I choose to wash the bowl by hand, it tips over easily because of its small base. Having made these comments, I love my kitchenaid and will replace it with a new one when and if this one fails. I loved this video. Thanks Cupcake Jemma and crew!

I've had an Aucma mixer for 6 years now, been used roughly once a week so it's been used but not overly intensive, no damage to it at all. As you say it's a little tricky to clean and the older model you are able to trap fingers in when putting the top down. For the £80 if I had to replace every 6-10years I'd still say it's a pretty good hard wearing machine.

I have the kenwood chef XL. Its really great but I did have to get my first one replaced (for free by John Lewis) because it overheated when making bread I was only kneading it for about 10mins. This was over a year of having it. The metal notch where the attachments go in massively over heated (it could burn your hand) and the top of the machine was hot but not so hot that you'd be worried about it. I'd describe it as warm. I only noticed that the metal notch was burning hot when I smelt a burnt plastic smell. The plastic around the notch where the attachments go in had melted from the heat of the metal! But thankfully the whole machine got replaced.

I have the Aucma and bake cakes, make meringues, macarons, madeleines, etc. Etc. It has performed very well for the 6 months that I’ve had it. Don’t forget that you can buy 5 new ones over time for the price of those more expensive mixers. Plus I can hide it easily in a cabinet. The sticky feet hold it firmly in place without all that weight. The whisk looks flimsy, but in your test it outpaced the more expensive ones in beating egg whites to stiff peaks! That was a surprise for me since I don’t have anything to compare mine to! It has the highest wattage and I think the power to the implements is comparable to the other two. Probably longevity will be its weak suit, but what the heck...throw it out and get a new one!

Hand mixers are excellent tbh. They're lightweight, easy to store and transport, inexpensive (I bought mine from a Craigslist listing), and mine has such a great range of speeds too. In fact, because you mix around with your hand, it mixes more thoroughly than the stand mixer, and often times I find that I spend less time to get the results I need compared to what the recipe says. It does get tiring, and it's difficult to add an ingredient while I am mixing (e.g. making Italian meringues), but I'm an infrequent baker, so overall it has served me well and I had no problem recreating Cupcake Jemma recipes!

Haven’t tried the top attachments yet, perhaps you could review a range of attachments for both the bowls and also on the top of the Kitchen Aid and KMix. Anyway, really good review. It's currently in for it's third warranty job (two of those have been replacing the plastic ring at the bottom of the glass bowl) and now the glass bowl is completely stuck on the base so it will be in with them for 15+ working days to get sorted. The Kitchenaid is a God send in all categories! I can't wait to get more of them and the attachments to go along with it!

The Cake Club Glass and ceramic bowls never work well regardless of brand. I have had KA and Kenwood and find Kenwood to be better by far. A KA is usually 325 watts, a Kenwood three times that or more. Best bet is actually a Kenwood chef, 1500 watts, all metal gears. They will make bread all day long, which would kill a KA in hours.

So at the moment I can pick up the Artisan for £299 and the Kmix for £249 you would recommend me getting the artisan?

Last year I bought a Berlinger Haus BH 1909 machine at a Dutch auction website. The original price was about 150 euro's, but I paid only 53 (63 including administration costs and shipment). I actually used it 2 days ago for the first time, making cupcakes (your recipe ofcourse). But it did a very good job! The machine did make quite some noise, but since I'm not a regular baker, I don't really mind. The machine was doing very well! Like the quote from a bake-shop nearby: ''A hobby doesn't have to be expensive''. Love your videos! Lot's of love from The Netherlands! ♥️

I have the Kenwood KMix and it is the most amazing thing ever. I highly recommend it. Generally people aren’t as clumsy as me, but I dropped the glass bowl on the floor and it smashed into a million pieces! I also managed to break the motor (completely my fault) and Kenwood were so so good to fix it and had it back to me in about a week!

Oooh thanks for your comment! I'm really eyeing it as a cheaper alternative to the kitchen aid. I know I probably will buy once so I don't want to buy something that will not give a satisfactory result every time!

Hi guys, great video for anyone who is unsure, I went for the KitchenAid a few months ago after doing lots of research, and for anyone who knows a lil about catering brands, KitchenAid was originally designed and built by Hobart, the only name in industrial food mixers.

I had my KitchenAid 5K5SS for 20 years now and the one with a spring and a tiny cap on the hook head. Mine as good as new, working perfectly but I think for making bread dough bread machine is doing a much better work in kneading heavy bread dough but for cakes, biscuit and merengue or any lighter batter it works great. Love watching you guys comparing different brands of heavy mixer, After having mine for 20 years I don't think I'm gonna buy another one because it working great still. might as well like someone said, would bring with me to heaven. Awesome video by the way, you guys are so fun to watch.😊

I bought my first KitchenAid a good few weeks back. I became inspired by Jemma's bakes and gained more confidence in myself when it came to baking so I knew it was about time that I invested in one and I love it🥰 It was a good bit cheaper than Jemma's one, on sale in a local shop but I like that even though I don't have the extra attachment like Jemma or the bowls, I have the option to get them. Prior to it I had a cheap style one like Dane's that I bought in Aldi and also similar to Dane's, it worked very well for small scale bakes and cookies but as I wanted to expand my baking ability I knew I had to change my mixer & I am in love with it😍 My fiancee convinced me to get it and I'm glad she did 🤗 She also bought me my Cupcake Jemma book😊 Having said all that my Nan is an old school, traditinal, Irish nanny baker who has had a Kenwood for years and she has never had a problem with it. They are all good and serve their purpose in their own right😍 Thanks for the video, always puts a smile on my face to watch you guys, love to see Nikki in more videos, her & Dane are hilarious 😅 Take care and be safe thanks for everything that you and all the C&D gang do to make life full of colour and batter😊😋♥️♥️ ♥️KitchenAid Love 😍♥️

I've just ordered a Kenwood k mix today to replace a vintage Kenwood (1960's model) I was gifted some years ago. The old dear still works, but there's some bearing noise so it's time for her to retire but still take pride of place atop my kitchen units 😊 great video folks! x

Thanks, enjoyed watching. A suggestion for a future video is the comparison in the quality of products used and if they really do give you a better value, e.g butter: Asda versus M&S versus Fancy French brand. Or the same for flour, chocolate etc. Is Dr Otekar as good as Sainsbury's own? Does nice baking really have to be about the best ingredients money can buy!?
@macaoron4 жыл бұрын
I think it would be helpful, but Jemma has quite an international audience, so it'll be hard to find certain brands in different locales. However she has given a few pointers on how to find quality ingredients, for example butter with low water content and icing sugar with maize as a binding agent (?), and maybe that will help out even more!
@danepemberton1364 жыл бұрын
@@macaoron Thanks Max, well said! Love it when you guys help each other out. True. I think it's not so much about brands so much, as they vary so much and often it can be about what you can get your hands on or afford, but about integral key qualities of ingredients to look for i.e % of cocoa butter in chocolate, caking agent in icing sugar etc.

I got a Kmix around 3 years ago and it’s done me proud. One issue is the ring on the bottom of the glass bowl breaks pretty easily however I did invest in a stainless steel bowl and Kenwood did actually send out a new ring for the glass bowl free of charge. Hands down a great mixer I will probably upgrade when my kmix gives up to a Kitchenaid! This was a brilliant review and eye opening that even the Aucma is a great mixer for beginners

That was a very nice demonstration and I'm sure it will be very helpful for a person who is in the market for a new mixer. We own a kitchenaid and it is a great machine. Unfortunately, ours doesn't live on the counter, so we have to lug it out and lift it up onto the counter every time we use it. It's heavy and bulky, but still worth it. Years ago, from amazon we ordered one of those paddles with the bowl scraper attached. I love that thing. It does a really great job.

Hi Jemma from Norway😊 I had a senz kitchen machine before, it was similar to Dains machine. I used it for about 2,5 years for all my orders like wedding cakes ect. It was very good and it handled all my frequent use, but after it broke i bought myself a kitchenaid artisan. The kitchenaid was such a pleasure to use and so stressfree. Love it❤ But for a baker that sometimes bakes, the machine Dain has, it will do perfectly and it's much cheaper. I also wish that kitchenaid had thought about the slow speed, because it is often needed in baking projects.

I've kind of been an infrequent but enthusiastic baker who's been wanting to take it to the next level - my mum just bought me the KitchenAid as a birthday gift, so I'm super excited to be able to do more and do it more easily. I found this really helpful, because it pointed out a few things that perhaps I hadn't considered. I'd said to my mum that she should get me a cheaper one like the Kenwood, although she was pretty insistent on the KitchenAid - and after this review, I'm really glad that she pushed for it. I'm really excited to try out an Italian Meringue buttercream! Cheers for this video and all the lessons along the way.

thanks for the video, I found it really helpful even though I bought my kmix half a year ago. back then I searched for a video like this because I wasn't sure if I should choose between the kitchen aid or mix. now after testing the kmix for a while I'm really happy with my decision. and the video showed me again that the kmix was the right one for me.
