I'm a convert from the Protestant church and have always remembered a sister's statement that President Hinkley was her favourite. She told me that a few years before the death of President Monson. Well, I have listened to SO many talks and I get so much vision of what is good and needed when I listen to President Hinkley. He was truly God's very special servant. I am grateful that technology allows me to view and listen to him as if he were here today!

I feel the same, what a great speaker even funny a lot of humor. He has always been my favorite prophet even when he was a apostle in the Quorum of the twelve. I have listened to many speakers that speak to the BYU students. That must be a privilege to be able to listen to motivating speakers. I don't know how many times they get to listen to great speakers if it is every week or month. I probably listened to several thousand speakers for BYU. And feeling inspired to be a better person after listening to all those who speak, the men and women! I love them all.

What a great talk! Its amazing how relevant the Prophet's teachings are almost a 1/4 century later! Thanks for posting this today. I hope all members of the church can join together in standing up for the principles of the Gospel and the values of the Church of Jesus Christ.

If I have a son someday, I would name him Hinckley. He is my very first prophet and his teachings about Jesus Christ have carried me through very challenging times of my life. Thank you so much, dear Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. 💌💌💌

"Be loyal to the Church. Stand tall for it. Defend it. Speak no evil against it. It is the work of God. He that ridicules it or defames it offends Him whose church it is. It carries the sacred name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is as a wonderful mother to each of you in whose arms you find shelter, comfort, warmth and security. Who's on the Lord's side who? Now is the time to show. We ask you fearlessly. Who's on the Lord's side who?"

I hearkened back to when I graduated from UVIC in BC, Canada. I was not a member of the church then, though Christian. I am still ever so grateful I got to attend and to go on with a wonderful career in teaching special needs. Wish I'd known of BYU then. The students and faculty were sooo blessed to hear this challenging and most direct speech from President Kimble.

To those who read this. You are Worth whatever effort it takes! You were worth dying for, and still are! Worth doesn't equal worthiness. You've worth doesn't change even if worthiness does. Worth is given because you are a son or daughter of a loving, living God. Worthines has to do with our free agency. He will not take our will; will is the only thing we can truly give Him, for he has everything else. See-"Value Beyond Measure" by Joy D Jones

I never remembered him from my life since I was really young but I have listened to talks from him and he's amazing! His sense of humor is great and he is a true disciple of Jesus Christ! It's amazing that we have prophets and apostles such as Elder Hinckley that share the message of Jesus Christ with all! I bear my testimony that Jesus Christ is our savior, he gave his life and willingly underwent every pain just so he could know how to succor us! Is it not just magnificent that we have a savior and heavenly father who love us perfectly! I know these things are true and I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen!

He talks a lot about fighting against our changing culture. "It is a battle for right and wrong," he says. "Stand up for truth in a world of sophistry." "Our moral compass cannot come from some abstract liberal concept of the village" Gosh, and these warnings were from 28 years ago.

I attended this one in person. Truth matters, and people need to stand for something as Hinckley noted. I find it more than a little ironic that those who stand up for truth find themselves excommunicated (september 6, etc). This speech was given when the church was actively hiding so much of its history. We need to all stand up for integrity. When there is a conflict between integrity and the church, how many members are willing to stand up and tell the truth - or for that matter take the time to find out what is true? I am truly disappointed with both the church and its members. Gone are the days when either could make a compelling claim that they cared about integrity and morality.

Dude, we have all been told to study for ourselves, we are responsible for our own study, they didn't hide it but there are many who didn't study as soon as they should have. I was late to it myself but it was on me.
