Standard Heat of Formation

Explanation of standard heat of formation, and example to calculate enthalpy using standard heat of formation data. There is an error. Delta H for the decomposition of CaCO3 is -179 kJ/mol. I apologize for any confusion.

Hi Amelia, If delta H is + it is endothermic. If delta H is - it is exothermic. I hope that helps! I am proud of you for taking chemistry:)
