I have a Kaito Dimir deck that uses Ertai, the only issue is that it lets them draw. I usually want to pair him with Beetle to make sure they don't get card advantage even if I throw them off a turn with his Counter/Kill

Love that you push to make colors work even against meta. If Land had shown up I bet those close games would have been shorter in your favor. Way to make it work!

I am no longer playing Magic and manage to keep up the abstinence, but always watching your videos. And this was the most suspenseful and gripping for a long time. I loved the deck and the plays with it and it almost made reinstall mtg arena.

Always love it sir. Great video. I wish Dimir was powerful in the meta too.

I might use this value idea, I was happy with leeching them with the drone. We could use more, leaves the battlefield effect cards.
@simply.skyler Жыл бұрын
I think your land count just wasn't enough for the deck to shine properly. There definitely seems to be something great hiding in there because it was keeping up even when you were behind near constantly, there were a lot of very close games in this video.
@piercearora7681 Жыл бұрын
I have a deck like this that's a banger, I cut all the weird aggro cards, I don't play Lilli bc I don't own Lilli, same with Tresspasser. It's more of a tempo deck, wincons are Haughty Djinn, Ledger Shredder (vs aggro) and Shelly. I actually cut K3ito because it wasn't having an impact vs aggro or midrange, I'm playing Te5eri now instead. I should play bankbuster, but I don't. The deck is a clunky mess, but plays like a Pioneer deck if it works.
@ryanburks937 Жыл бұрын
Nah, 24 lands for a deck that curves out at 4 is reasonable asf. Arena is just broken and people are quick to judge a deck off of “simulated performance” knowing good and well arena’s shuffler is on the toilet bowl
@simply.skyler Жыл бұрын
@@ryanburks937 All the more reason to stack it a bit more in your favor then, really.

@19:06, you punted, if you crew with trespaser, and block with eye and buster, you have at least eye or buster left. Instead you lost your entire board. Only reason to take the play you did, is if you think your opponent is to scared to go for lethal when they are ahead.

Just to ask, what would be your Orzov deck of choice. Lots of graveyard interaction, Twilight of the White Sun, (splash green - Awaken the Woods?), Vat of Rebirth, Norn's Wellspring, Aron, Benalia's Ruin, (splash red - Urbrask's Forge?) all seem interesting. Make mites and or control the board with Twilight. Sac mites or other tokens to Aron to grow our value creatures. Every sac or board wipe adds more oil, so you can resurrect big scary creatures or scry/draw cards.

The issue I see with decks like this is that while they have powerful cards, they don’t specialize enough to make sufficient impact when compared to things like fleshgorger and invoke despair. You might gain some extra value with things like kaito, but kaito doesn’t go over the top - it’s small incremental value that doesn’t get you ahead for the first few turns. It takes too long to get you ahead that you just die in the meantime. I think it’s mostly a meta problem though - the meta is just to fast and too aggressive to try and play the small value game.
@lukemartineau490 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, but to be fair, when has the meta ever been slow? I only got in during Neon Dynasty though so I actually do not know
@thosewhoslaytogetherstayto3412 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. In fact, it makes playing MTG incredibly boring when I feel like there are very few decks I can play because it seems like over half the decks I play against aim to win by turn 4.
@piercearora7681 Жыл бұрын
@@lukemartineau490 It hasn't been slow since 2018-ish iirc, 2019-2020 was utter chaos, and since then the meta has been blistering fast. I could be wrong, I'm pretty new too.

Would kotose maybe be a better pick up than shelly? It'd allow you to not only deny your opponent their invokes, but if she sticks you can cast them yourself. As well as being versatile enough to work in quite a few matchups. She would struggle against aggro, though, sadly.
