I am not sure if you will respond anymore, but a question on Step 5, I am still a little confused on how to factor this part. I am not sure how you went from 2(x^2-2x (-1)^2) to 2(x-1).

That's a great question. The expression was factored: x^2 -2x +1 = (x-1)^2.
