Majority of pros will run Hi-lift blades and that hi amount of airflow from hi lift blades and commercial deck's helps get those "pro" stripes. From what I have seen the heavier power needed for hi-lift is mainly a concern with battery powered mower's where run time is a much bigger concern. Also consider a blade like Toro Atomic blades and Oregon's gator blades as they are very popular to for the ability to cut up debri's such as leaves very fine

I would want the high lift so that I wouldn't have to clean out the mower deck as often. The only downside I can see is I have to be further away from flower gardens or I might be more likely to blow grass clippings in them. For that reason I like to mow blowing the clippings away for so many rows before I start going both ways. I don't like pulling weeds one bit and would like to avoid that at all costs.

@@charleshines1553 Yeah thats definitly a concern with hi-lifts. Thats one reason OCDC's have become so popular because I have clippings blow 10-15ft and even mowing carefully you cant keep them out of the beds all the time.

Most blade corps dont list Volume or Lift specs so I always take time to contact corps to get that missing info. Its hidden on purpose usually & it matters. It differs greatly between blade design/maker so ask for it when its being hidden. As stated by others here battery powered mowers are mainly effected by high/extra high lift blade designs. Owners of gas mowers will very rarely notice this even on high hour units its hard to tell between blade designs used as far as operating goes. Especially chute mowing when more grass is expelled with high lift vs low lift blades so more grass remains inside deck gas/power difference is extremely negligible at best.

We know mulching blades are louder but we have never looked at the highlift vs standard in terms of noise. Thank you for the suggestion.

@@trimthatweed-yourgardening2662 My neighbor owns a lawn care business and their mowers likely have the high lift. They a lot of times use those mowers on their own lawn too. They don't seem to be overly noisy. Maybe they are a little louder from the extra air flow. I never really compared them to the standard lift on my lawn tractor. The high lift blades do indeed throw the clippings further. I would guess that means a cleaner mower deck too

HELP ME What blades for a 5 acres, I don't care what the grass looks like I just want to cut fast and not any taller half cut weeds. Toro Titian xz4800 older model V twin. I think it can cut up to 7.5 mph. I live in North East florida. And only cut when my grass is about 5 or 6" and then I scalp it pretty low. I never bag I just don't need snakes around my house, I live near a swamp.

I have an old Craftsman II from 1997 (B/S 15HP I/C Gold Motor) I always had problems cutting the thick lush grass here in Central WI. In the spring and fall. It would cut but would often clog or shoot clumps everywhere. Of course I have the deck chute wide open also. I was naive I didn't know of all the other blades offered out there. Until last week. I went to the hardware store and found some Husqvarna ultra high lift cutting blades for $36.99. installed em cleaned the deck and went to cut. Boy let me tell you I've been cutting wrong for all these years. These blades cut the entire 4-5 acres with no problems the entire time smooth lines. No clogging or bogging from the mower no clumps of grass anywhere and the deck wasn't as packed with grass as it normally is after a cut. Also keep in mind to try and cut in mid to late afternoons as the grass will be much drier then as compared to the mornings. Sorry for a late reply but I hope this helps you. High lift blades are always better they stand the grass up and displace it out the shoot better

High lift blades are not “always better “. It depends on what you want out of your mower, and the area that you are cutting. For example; if you are cutting a sandy/grassy area and aren’t bagging the clippings then a standard (medium lift) is better than high lift, and a low lift is best.
